if it was so great, it would've been still selling at $399

I'm now laughing at the apple haters that brought one at launch.

It's only $100 now because HP's executives are a bunch of fucking retards.

Think of all the money they are going to lose on this ... Think if they put that money into product development and marketing ... These things also sold like hotcakes for $299 in the States, which is roughly around HP's cost. When do Android tablets sell like crazy ? When the Acer Iconia dropped to $329 for a short period, but that's the only time I can think of at my store. Outside of that, we might sell a few a week between the different models.

The only complaints I ever hear are webOS is slow (which is EASILY fixed) and it's made of glossy plastic (can't fix that). These same people seem to never focus in on the positives, of which there are many. High-quality screen, great REAL LIFE battery life, inductive charging, best multi-tasking OS for tablets, great homebrew community, 50GB free online storage, supports Flash, Java, HTML 5, etc.

This is gonna be awesome when they hack android onto it. Plus $100 is a steal for an internet tablet. I won't get one since already have a galaxy tab and a moto xoom.

$120 isn't that bad considering how hard it'd be to find them:
HP Touchpad 16GB WiFi 1.2GHz Tablet with WebOs | eBay

I might bite and get one for myself. The Price protection I'll get from best buy from my gfs touchpad will pay off the difference haha

edit: just got ordered one -.-

Datsun 08-20-2011 02:37 PM

FFFF so tempting

ForbiddenX 08-20-2011 02:38 PM

Datsun 08-20-2011 03:05 PM

Yeah, I wonder what's up with that. It went from 8 originally to 10 now. Hopefully its some sort of miracle stock for us BB order'ers. Speaking of which, I still havent gotten any email back yet.

Datsun 08-20-2011 03:50 PM

Holy shit I'm almost willing to exchange the opportunity to buy a touchpad for 24hrs of mod status at RFD, just to ban all the smartasses that keep pointing out how many views the thread is seeing.

I picked up my 32gig today

I took it out of the box and can agree it is a bit heavy but it will be so nice to use when I travel

still for $150 i am not complaining

I was reading some articles and found this:

Quote:

FROM REUTERS

You don’t spend $1.2 billion and call it quits early. That’s the amount that HP spent to buy Palm in a transition from the PC world to the mobile space. Aside from iPaq handhelds and a few early smarpthones, HP really hasn’t been in the mobile game. It is the no. 1 PC maker in the world, but that market is slowing just as the mobile market is growing. This isn’t a $1.2 billion fire sale, folks. Essentially, that’s what Steven DeWitt, SVP & GM, of HP’s webOS global business unit Personal Systems Group tweeted this morning: “Its about building new relations thru webOS. $100 off a HP Touchpad is a great deal. We r in this for the long haul!”

ahahaha i guess you do spend 1.2 billion and call it quits

Gh0stRider 08-20-2011 04:26 PM

haha can't order online from bb, just print...wtf

does that mean people who did order it online yesterday will get it?

They paid 1.2 billion for Palm's software and patents. Which they still own. Which they can still sell to someone else if they choose to.

Manic! 08-20-2011 04:40 PM

Ordered 2 32 gb versions from HP's site.

Total $1,122.67

ninjai123 08-20-2011 04:44 PM

no one thanks for me for my morning reply? =( lol and yeah the order is process....

parm104 08-20-2011 04:49 PM

I have personally gotten 6 units now. All 32GB units...$70 for 3 of them, $149 for the other 3. As I mentioned earlier, chances of getting your hands on one in a retail store now is slim to none.

No complaints here on the product, lack of app support, that's all. As mentioned already, OverClocking/JailBreak works wonders on this device and the new update is also a pleasant surprise.

Araaadi 08-20-2011 04:58 PM

wanna sell one for 170$ :)

It's not the hardware that makes it slow, it's the software. The hardware on the TouchPad is excellent. Dual core snapdragon 1.2 GHz with 1 GIG of ram. With Android installed, it is likely to be the 2nd fastest one out there, after the Eee Pad.

It basically has the same specs as the HTC Sensation
