^Ah okay that's what I thought. Not sure if he was being sarcastic or not.

Whoever makes a sarcasm font for the internet will...well, they probably won't make any money off it but they will receive at least two internets from me.

I doubt that very much. Like I keep saying, the hardware is totally fine on the TouchPad. If a dual core 1.2 GHz ARM7 CPU can't run the OS, it's the OS that's shit, not the hardware (or more precisely, the UI). Certainly it will be faster than the shitty 1 GHz A4 that is used in the original iPad. It also has FOUR TIMES as much RAM as the iPad 1.

The hardware is not bad. The software is not bad. The reason this failed is because nobody gives a shit about tablets, except for the iPad. And people for people who DO care about tablets, there are better options out there for the same price, and with far more development.

It's not the hardware or software the define Android and iOS. It's their respective app stores, and mass marketing appeal. The TouchPad had good hardware, technically better software, but without the two most important things, it was a total fail.

Microsoft is doing it the right way, trying to sway developers to make software for their platform. In fact, they just started giving out Windows Phones and dev kits to all WebOS developers.

i was like that when i saw them hiring russel brand to do a commercial. the manny & glee ones were good commercials though.

speaking of nokia i told my friend who works for them that they won a law suit and she's like: "good, we can use the money" LOL

i ordered one for me and my friend off of stooples website, no confirmation email. I'm not very optimistic we'll be getting them. I just dont want a phantom charge on my CC LOL

WebOS on iPad? 2x Faster than on the TouchPad! | PadGadget

What I've heard is not that they loaded WebOS on an iPad 2, but rather they ran WebOS apps inside the browsers on both devices and the wwebapps in Safari on the iPad 2 were several times faster than on the TouchPad. This is a function of the browser/software more than the hardware.

On the hardware side the Snapdragon/Adreno 220 GPU in the TouchPad is better than that shitty Tegra 2, and is fairly close to the A5 in the iPad 2 (though ever so slightly behind).

So if they get Android running on the TouchPad it'll be better than any competing Tegra 2 tablet with Android.

yeh and in my checkout it shows the hp touchpad and delivery address & payment info, but i see this at the top:

"The table below shows the items that you have ordered in the past. The table does not necessarily represent the final received order which may have changed due to product availability, credit card authorization, delivery fees, tax and coupons. The order history shown must only be used for your own reference; it cannot be used for tax or billing purposes."

sounds like a weasel out clause

8 demonstration touch pads? Are you sure? The demo models are "vendor supplied." They're not owned by the store/an entity of the company. Future Shop or any other vendor don't have the rights to sell them. They will eventually go back to HP, be repackaged and then sold later.

Demo models supplied by the manufacturer are a fixed asset to the store. Just like a light bulb or a shelf or the carpet in the store, the manufacturer supplied demo cannot be sold ever.

^ sell me a 16gb please D:

DO NOT BUY A DEMO MODEL

Confirmed, according to HP Support Forum HP Support Forum, Precentral 1 [precentral.net], Precentral 2 [precentral.net] the demo TouchPad can be reset so that it won't install the demo software, but it still will be unable to create an account. Thanks to BluMaterial, original post below.

I can't edit the wiki (don't know why), but someone needs to add this: DO NOT buy a demo model! The demo models cannot be used to create a WebOS account, and if you can't create an account the touchpad is just a brick. This has been verified by HP tech support. There is currently no plan to enable WebOS accounts on demo models. The stores shouldn't have sold them in the first place.

Oleophobic 08-21-2011 10:50 AM

lol yeah I'll gladly take one off your hands if you do plan on selling a 16gig! :)

SkinnyPupp 08-21-2011 10:52 AM

Ok it's bad enough that people are buying instantly obsolete tablets because it's such a good deal, but DEMO MODELS? Come on! :lol

Oleophobic 08-21-2011 10:54 AM

unfortunately, most people are uninformed (both customers and sales associates) about these differences between demo units and regular units so I'm not surprised some people ended up walking home with a brick.

haha13 08-21-2011 11:23 AM
