I made some comments to your pros.

Thanks for your input.

I know u can go to the app from the notification bar but not from the lock screen.

I did a brief search for equivalent quick reply tweaks to the android but didn't find anything that an be considered as good. Will research further.

Not just the quantity but quality as well. I Judie a search on some apps I would like to have if I switched over and they are not available. Either they will eventually be there or not at all. Everything seems delayed in terms of releasing popular apps on the android.

Maybe I should be patient and see what apple and google does in the summer then decide.

Yea, you can go to the app from the lock screen.
With ICS the notification pull down is accessible on the lock screen, if you use the slide unlock.

Once you use a security lock screen, like pattern or pin, it's not available. Which makes sense, if you value security, convenience should not compromise it.

ah that makes sense to why i couldn't pull it down on my friend's phone. She has a lock on it.

It'd be nice if you can pull down still and after click on the notification, it THEN brings u to the pattern-lock. Kinda like the iPhone.

blah. I just hope there is a tweak for everything if I end up with this phone :P

thanks for the help guys

Well if you think about it. It's not very secure to be able to read the message/text/email/etc. header on the notification when you have security enabled. I know I wouldn't want that if I were using the secure lockscreen.

Well on the iPhone the can only see the preview and if u try to unlock straight to the app it will ask for password first.

Also you can toggle it so it doesn't show the message preview or anything at all. Up to u.

how much data are you guys using?

is 1gb enough for a monthly plan?

twitchyzero 02-12-2012 11:47 AM

if you use wifi when available then 1gb should be adequate

Well understandably not everything is going to work the same. Kinda defeats the purpose of having individuality.

BTW. The sms app I was using in the past was Go SMS. It has the same quick reply option usable in any screen.

I'm going to assume that you don't have the phone yet...

ICS has a data usage monitor built in...

...you can always download one from the market too.

I think there should be an app for your carrier that shows your usage for the month.

!MiKrofT 02-12-2012 04:18 PM

There is an app however I find it's much faster to use the built in function on the Galaxy Nexus. Here's about a month for me:

So I picked up a used HTC Magic to try out rooting and flashing rom before I try anything on my GN. I rooted and installed Cyanogenmod on the Magic.

I was under the impression that Cyanogenmod are roms that use the official Android rom and then add some more extra settings. Turns out that they don't keep everything stock. Say for example, they don't use the stock Android launcher, they use ADW launcher.

So I'm wondering, is an official stock rom even available (as in everything stock, down to the launcher and apps), or it isn't as simple as, ripping the stock rom off a Google phone (Nexus S, Nexus One etc.) and just installing it on another device?

Apple requests Preliminary Injunction against the Galaxy Nexus, says it infringes on 4 "high-power patents" | MobileSyrup.com

Apple...

The other day at work, a girl who was in support of Apple stated that Steve Jobs changed the world. I flipped the fuck out at her.

You're looking for ASOP roms. But those would be modded / changed in someway like Cyanogenmod. Only nexus phones have " stock " android, and that's only if you use ota updates provided by Google.

Fuck yeah SwiftKey is good. Revscene crashed and I just had to keep hitting. He space bar

Correct. It's all data. Mobile data doesn't track wifi cause there's not much point. I almost never use wifi on my phone unless I'm doing big file transfers.

For GN? or your magic? For GN it'd be everything minus the MIUI roms. For the magic it'd be cyanogenmod. Sorry I don't have either phone so I can't give any specifics.

For your GN if you want stock launcher most roms would still have the stock launcher available or you could try trebuchet? That launcher is something made by the Cyanogen team based on the stock ICS launcher.
