76!!! That’s young. That’s insanely young for an Asian dude. Rip TOM. You fucking hero you |
Biggest storm on the planet in 2025 hits in a few hours.. wish me luck bros. https://i.imgur.com/3UkSBfT.png |
Stay safe bro. Hope you stocked up |
I hope the flooding will be minimal at your place! |
It is peaking right about now at 5am, with gusts of 180 KM/h. I got up at 4am due to the noise. I think in about an hour or so, the worst will be gone. If that's the case, I think we'll make it out ok and I'll try to get some sleep. Unlike Mangkhut in 2018, it hung a bit to the south so we won't get whipped by the tail end of it with devastating southerly winds. That's what destroyed my village and caused all the destruction I showed back then. We're surrounded on all sides, but totally exposed to the south. https://i.imgur.com/fWMBW90.png |
Safety first bro. If you are in trouble we have a lot of connections there. Can help if you need. |
Part of a tree landed outside my window, blocking the path to the road. Rooftop starting to flood due to clogging but it's still unsafe to go out there to rip the leaves out of the drains. I have to monitor the water level and if it gets too high, I just have to risk it. Otherwise I'll wait until the wind dies down Getting gusts from the south, which is my worst fear. Just hope it moves away as it dies down, and what I am seeing now is as bad as it gets https://i.imgur.com/wCkInzA.png |
Final update during the storm (who knows what the aftermath will be) 10am the gusts and rain have stopped, just in time for me to be able to go out to the roof and clear out the drains. I would have had to go no matter what in the next half hour, or else water would come in through the door down the stairs again. So that positive news improved my mood a bit. It was nice up there actually. There was a lot of water ingress at the balcony sliding door, but that was to be expected as it's not fully sealed. Lots of towels kept it at bay Jett just slept away as the 200 KM winds bashed against the doors all night. I moved his bed away from the door in case of catastrophe. He really isn't afraid of weather AT ALL. We call him the Thundercat This storm feels about the same strength as Mangkhut in 2018, but went past us much faster and stayed further south. There will still be a lot of destruction, but I don't think it will be as landscape altering as that one was. Buildings around me look intact, unlike last time There's going to be some insane videos coming out, like this from Ocean Park hotel |
Need your guys opinion V2: End goal is to sell this car. If you were someone looking to buy it, with ultra low kms: Looking for suggestions, anything and everything. 1: oxidized alum wheels. Get them refinished? (probably 800$ not worth it.) Is there a way to diy this other than sanding, and re painting silver? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e2b8c90e_c.jpg 2: coolant reservoir, im guessing there is no way to get this back to a "white/clear" condition. Replace it only? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f9d2fccf_c.jpg 3. Plastic trim, sand and re paint? Restore with a product? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a6d33d1e_c.jpg 4. Valve cover and intake manifold. Remove, sand, paint? Or Remove and acid clean it only? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0d8f2d9b_c.jpg 5. Paint: did a 2 minute hand polish, day and night difference. Those of you who polish, should i be taping up any plastic, etc? Any other suggestions? I picked up a 6" DA, + a 2" rotary. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e2e6a779_c.jpg 6. Rust.... Rust.... Rust ...... One of the worst cars ive seen for rust, especially with such low kms. Sat in richmond all its life. Leave the rust? Wire brush drill everything? Buy a sandblaster and go at it? Spray with rust converter? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ccc6af70_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...52e6b992_c.jpg |
With the rust, if you want to do a really good job on it, I think taking the part out, and dunking it in Por 15 would give the best results. You can't wirebrush well enough when there are so many crevices and stuff. |
I think with some of the crustier parts, unless you do all of it the one clean part is just gonna make the rougher parts look even rougher. On a side note what's the deal with that bushing on the control arm not attached to anything? |

I tried spray on rust converter, sort of worked on some sections. Ive had good luck with it before, but probably also the rust was surface only. I took a look into por15, i think the brush on stuff will do well after i get the top layer of crap off. Also took a look into mar-hyde, seems to be por15 on steroids, if i cant get my hands on it. Trying to keep the whole car "restoration" under xx hours. Quote:

i think the polishing was a good idea as the paint can sometimes help to sell a car for a few hours of work. im sure we've all had the experience where you fuss too much about fixing up a car before selling it only to have the seller not even ask or give a shit about anything and just care about the price based on the model and mileage... personally i wouldnt care to derust it or to fix the rims... maybe just list it for what you want and see what offers come in, then if you have trouble selling it and buyers have pointed out those issues then you can address them? i would probably take that backwards approach just so i wouldnt spend so much time fixing things without taking a shot at just getting it sold first. |
I was waiting to pick up a friend and turn off my car engine, but had the radio on. It was on for about 20 minutes and then I wasn't able to start my car. This has happened twice in the last few months. A quick google search shows that a car battery only last 3-5 years. Is that correct??? Seems like quite a short life span. It's an RDX. Should I get one from the dealership or just pick one up from Costco? I'll have to call around to compare the prices but looking for opinions. |

I have a 2019 RDX, and I've had to change the battery twice in 4 years (both were costco batteries, and the first was covered under costco's warranty). Anyways, ~$200 at costco, can't beat it. |
5 years is kind of the general standard, after that you're considered on borrowed time. But having said that, the battery in my Mazda is on year 9, and the Optima Red top in my Sonoma is on year 13 and both are going strong lol. The Optima was actually the Mustang's before it got parked, then sat on a trickle charger for a bunch of years, and then I just threw it in the Sonoma when its last battery went. |
def go with Costco This message was approved by resident Costco whore, Badhobz. |
The battery on my MS3 was good until year 5. I'm finding most Japanese brands to undersize their batteries. Then you have BMW which draws so much power that my X5 has 2 12v batteries. |
