Badhobz 10-03-2025 01:19 PM

Can someone explain to me why its up to 15% ethanol in our gas now!?!??! 94 used to be ethanol free, but now even thats 10%

https://i.postimg.cc/Rhgqf33G/Screen...1-18-27-PM.png

everything is getting worse... even gas isnt gas anymore.

roastpuff 10-03-2025 01:25 PM

Reduced emissions of course

spoon.ek9 10-03-2025 01:30 PM

I'm still mad they removed all of the free air pumps. I used to check my tire pressure every time I filled up.

bcrdukes 10-03-2025 01:50 PM

Yeah! Chevron used to have free air pumps and now they are slowly being pay-per-use!

I think Costco has a free air pump near the tire centre, but good luck getting there during the day (unless you're Badhobz.) :heckno:

Badhobz 10-03-2025 01:51 PM

downtown costco has one.. you dont even need to scan membership. you can just spray each other with air for fun

Ethanol is good... free powa

burns faster tho

Great68 10-03-2025 02:12 PM

Carbs don't like ethanol. Have to be much more dilligent in draining my boat motor, power washer, lawn mower, leaf blower, and string trimmer over the winter. Fuck Ethanol. Corn should be for eating, not turning into fuel.

Badhobz 10-03-2025 02:48 PM

Bad for fuel lines too. It eats them and potentially damaging the fuel pump if you let it sit in ethanol for long periods of time.

bcrdukes 10-03-2025 02:54 PM

yeah I had a bad experience with ethanol-ridden gas on my old Vespa P90. That was a total mess. On modern cars, its generally (emphasis on generally) okay.

You really don't have this problem with the GTI tho.. it's a good problem to have in the GTI...

that said Chevron 94 sucks LOL. Shell 93 ftw.

Point about the fuel lines is true tho. Short term testing showed I can run up to E25-E30 with no issues.

bcrdukes 10-03-2025 03:29 PM

i'm a bit disappointed Badhobz didn't use Costco gas.

Damn... when did that started happening?!

bcrdukes 10-03-2025 03:45 PM

I recall reading an announcement (I think here on RS?) that the gas companies were slowly introducing it across the country. I personally haven't seen it here in the GTA, but maybe that's because I pretend I don't see the total amount when filling up premium on the Boxster.

Nobody gives a nazi shit about that dumpster fire, I’m concerned about the ratrolla. She doesn’t get driven that much and now she’s filled full of corn juice that likes to rot out everything. :rukidding:

roastpuff 10-03-2025 04:25 PM

Dump some fuel stabilizer in the LC, that's what I do with the S when it goes to sleep.

Paying for air is an example of the late stage capitalism bullshit that grinds my gears to no end.

It's fucking air, how have we gone decades with it being free, and now suddenly gas stations want to charge for it? It should be a basic feature available, especially given you're filling up.

What's next, a surcharge on that dirty ass squeegee?

whitev70r 10-03-2025 06:59 PM

KAL tire is really good, you can always pull in and ask them to check all 4 tires, air, no charge and they do it for you!

yray 10-03-2025 07:07 PM

you guys don't have built in air :troll:

Sadly Vancouver city gas stations all have pay air pumps.
I just go next door to Burnaby, it's still free there.

Air compressors are 400$ for the cheapest one, add in a pay feature, that silver box around it, now your at 2000$.

People dont give a shit about the hoses and ends, leave them out, drive over them, steal them, break them.

Dont forget the cost of running power to it out there.

2000 esso stations in canada, at 5k per unit build cost, thats one less vacation home for a VP

Your esso stonk depends on profits, and the only profits of free air are negative

Mikoyan 10-03-2025 11:15 PM

I just use a HP Rigid inflator from home Depot for my bikes/vehicles.

red kryptonite 10-04-2025 12:10 AM

if i was hobz i would just buy another LC. one to rock one to stock.
