What’s there to weigh. If that fucker ran over your family, you’d shoot him dead too. 2nd degree murder is easy street vs the guilt of watching this guy potentially get off on a technicality

Like that labubu guy. He needed to go man.

westopher 07-20-2025 07:02 PM

If you can’t shoot someone for actively trying to kill people then what are the guns for anyways?

Great68 07-20-2025 09:21 PM

One thing I noticed about the big car show today, is that in years prior where they blocked off the streets they would just put those simple sawhorse style barriers up. This year, they actually parked police vehicles the width of the street to block them. It guess that's a result of the lapu lapu thing.

Does anyone know where one should park if they're going to the fireworks at English bay?

We were given seats there, but I haven't been the fireworks since I was in highschool. I have no idea what the best play is to get down there.

whitev70r 07-21-2025 06:04 AM

Prob should park in Richmond, Lansdowne Mall, take the train down.

Badhobz 07-21-2025 06:21 AM

often in life, the best answer (or the most obvious) is not the one people expect.

Park at home and take transit. Budget 2.5 hours each way, unless you live in the west end and can walk home lol.

spoon.ek9 07-21-2025 08:44 AM

Even when I had a rental parking spot downtown, it wasn't really worth the hassle of trying to weave your way through all of that traffic. I'd also go with transit given the options.

BIC_BAWS 07-21-2025 09:13 AM

I drove ONCE to the fireworks. It took an hour to 90 mins to get out of the downtown core. It was awful finding parking, it was awful getting out. Probably 2-2.5 hrs from fireworks to Steveston. This was 10 years ago too with significantly less traffic, would not recco.

yray 07-21-2025 09:13 AM

going there is not bad, its leaving that sucks

CivicBlues 07-21-2025 09:30 AM

I'll let you park in my spot, I'm a 15 min walk

$80 bucks.

EvoFire 07-21-2025 09:32 AM

There used to be great street parking on certain blocks after 6pm, but those are all gone now. I used to drive down in the late afternoon, park at one of the 6pm spots and go have dinner with my girlfriend and find a small spot after to watch the fireworks. Takes less than an hour to get home as I get in the car and we are out of downtown in less than 20mins.

Hoenstly, as long as you walk towards Granville / Pender, there are plenty of places where transit is easy to hop on and jump on the skytrain.

If you're adventurous, the business parking lots / side streets are readily available (closer to georgia) . Regardless of where you are, getting out is 25 mins (walk).

BIC_BAWS 07-21-2025 09:57 AM

LOL I think one time I walked to Stadium Chinatown over waiting in line at waterfront..

Badhobz 07-21-2025 10:05 AM

Why didnt you guys recommend the best mode of transportation?

A BICYCLE !!!

me and my old man used to ride our bikes from east van to see the fireworks. It was quite fun.

PeanutButter 07-21-2025 10:07 AM

The thought of taking transit isn't appealing at all. Being stuffed into the skytrain seems very unenjoyable. I'm pretty soft these days. I don't like being uncomfortable.

My buddy told me to park across the Burrard bridge on 4th and just walk in. Someone said park at the Westin Bayshore and walk from there.

I'm expecting about a 25+ min walk. I might just park at the Westin, that seems reasonable.

i drove out to denman on saturday around 5. stupid i know, i didnt even realize there were fireworks.

actually the drive itself was just fine, even in dt other than a few closed streets the traffic was normal. the problem was finding parking even for 5 minutes to meet up with somebody. had to park illegally. if you ever do drive to the fireworks get ready to park at least a 20m walk away. its probably wise to park super far anyway so you can at least get out slightly easier when it's time to leave.

What a baller.

CivicBlues 07-21-2025 10:37 AM

Anywhere you park West of Burrard I wouldn't expect to get out of downtown until past 11pm. Or you can just leave early to beat the traffic.

DO NOT under any circumstances park in Kits Point however, did that one year and was stuck getting out for hours. Only 1 way in and out.

Parking there won't be easy either depending on how early you go because a ton of people flood the area and watch it at Vanier Park or even on Burrard Bridge itself.
