but neglecting teaching styles and presentation, how do the two compare with each other in terms of content?

Easier? Harder? Dry? Boring? Interesting? etc etc

Interesting, especially if you're into health (which I think you would be because of Kin/lifting). But some of it gets kind of dry: "so and so would be more effective if you increase self efficacy, decrease perceived barriers, increased perceived rewards" for almost everything

Bump.

Is everyone done with summer classes yet?

Selanne_200 07-23-2013 06:58 PM

Nop, 2 more weeks to go for me

Hey guys I have a situation that needs clarifying.
So my student loans disbursement date is September 3rd, but tuitions are due on the 4th.
What happens if I don't get the money right on the first day. I read through the late fees section but hoping for some layman-term-explanation. :(

instantneedles 07-25-2013 12:14 AM

Course selection screwed me over big time: courses all over the place, requirements not fulfilled, coerced into 3 hour classes, and the list goes on. All are legitimate reasons to explain an unwanted fifth year and quite frankly, a sixth year at ubc

If you can't get into a required class you can try speaking to an advisor.

When I was doing my economics degree, Econ 325, 326 and 490 were required to graduate and they would just place you in a class if you couldn't register.

When did u apply for loans is the question?

IIRC, if you applied prior to a specific date (July 4th I believe, or somewhere around there) you would have gotten deferred for a month if not I think you are SOL?

someone else confirm?

theevilslave 07-25-2013 10:42 PM

It was the 15th. I submitted my application and sent the signed appendix around the 12-13th but things didn't get processed till later. So not sure. Emailed my ESP, let's see.

Has anyone here used their AMS prescription subsidy to purchase sunglasses?

not with the AMS, i've gotten designer glasses with my own extended medical though, and I know friends that have gotten designer sunglasses as well

i don't see what the problem with doing it though.

extended medical insurance is extended medical insurance, AMS or not

Finding a place to rent under $2000/mon for 3bdrm in Kits/Kerrisdale/Point Grey area is so difficult. Only found one so far.

kcl38 07-30-2013 07:17 PM

If you're lucky you can find places on campus for that range. I have some friends that lived in the apartments above the Village for $650 a month each (mind you, was 4 people sharing a 3 bed)

Akinari 07-30-2013 09:56 PM

Problem is I'm not too sure where to look besides cl, kijiji, bc rental and amsonline.

instantneedles 07-30-2013 10:27 PM

^i see printed advertisements pinned to the boards of the SUB basement

not sure if they post on amsonline as well, but could be worth a check

Day 1 of filming:

Stalked the set of Tomorrowland today.
No George Clooney.

Sad.

MeowMeow 08-08-2013 05:50 PM

^George clooney is here?!?!

Energy 08-08-2013 05:52 PM

They're filming Tomorrowland at UBC?!?

instantneedles 08-08-2013 09:27 PM

Is it the set in front of the pharmacy building?

kcl38 08-08-2013 09:31 PM

It looks like they were filming down Main Mall! In front of Buch/Sauder
