Energy 06-21-2012 01:24 PM

I did 104/108 last year. What's the difference again? Intensive vs non intensive or is it heritage?

fuhkyu 06-21-2012 02:07 PM

What are you majoring in?

Energy 06-22-2012 07:03 PM

Yep co op's usefulness depends on major. I had a friend majoring in international relations and she did co op but it was useless.

GGnoRE 06-22-2012 08:25 PM

Co-op is awesome!

You owe it to yourself to give it a try. At the end of the day, if you are not able to find an optimal co-op position, you can just continue your studies. There is no penalties for that.

If you are thinking about finding a job right after grad, work experience will definately give you an advantage (especially if the co-op job is relevant a experience). If you have a low GPA, work experience is one of the ways you can make-up for the low grades during job applications.

Through 4 terms of co-op, I was able to publish a paper as a second author in a peer-reviewed journal, recieve 2 NSERC USRA, recieve potential full-time job offer, and secure good reference letters from prof's. The salary of my last co-op position was also $3200 per month, which I saved up to buy my first car and a year worth of insurance.

Whether its for the interest of money, work experience, learning, or just taking some time off school, I have never seen a student regret doing co-op. Most importantly, you will learn what you want to do and what you don't want to do after you graduate.

Damn I sound like one of those promotion paragraphs from the Co-op pamphlets lol.

Energy 06-22-2012 08:38 PM

Yup coop can be good too. That's for sharing your experience!

Nah.. it's too intense for heritage. Plus.. loaded up with science classes :( LOL

instantneedles 06-22-2012 10:43 PM

Anyone here take creative writing 200 before with nancy lee? or know anyone that's taken it before?

Any easy elective in general?

I'm not too big with sciences or commerce courses... looking for something easy and straightforward to do.

I'm ok with minimal memorizing and profs that base their tests and midterms off of lecture slides that are posted on vista.
Also, lecture only (no discussions, labs, tutorials) would be awesome.

Anyone have any suggestions for a mathematically inclined student as far as english courses go? I saw an ENGL309 which was rhetorical science something, ect. and then other 100 level courses , which might be easier? I'm not the best in english, looking for the highest score possible, so I'm hoping to avoid any gpa killer classes.

Thanks

Which level English courses?
Take whatever with Bierman
I already stressed this multiple times in this thread but hands down easiest prof ever.

I just got my 322 mark back which was an online course I took with Bierman,
Didn't do any of the 15% participation thing and I handed in my paper late (which resulted getting 78)
Still somehow got 83 lol???

Yup he still does sometimes if it's in the mornings.

LuHua 06-24-2012 08:16 AM

No stretches yet for my lectures, thankfully...

I'm completing the degree in 3 years but technically I am a 2nd year student. I've noticed some english 300 level courses I may not take until I'm considered a 3rd year student, but who knows.. I was thinking ENGL 309 because I am planning to go into the field of medicine/dentistry. Not sure if it would kill my mark though. I'm not strong in writing or literature or any of that kind of stuff.

shawnly1000 06-24-2012 10:27 AM

Lemche was awesome; never went to a single lecture for both 101 and 102. I remembered he screenshotted some Lyryx questions for a midterm.
