I would strongly consider the Lumia, if only it had a better battery.

Nokia battery is pretty good it gets you through the day with no problems. I think its an app that causes the battery to drain faster. For example people use a application called Weatherlive with Live Tiles apparently a guy disabled that and his battery life doubled.

You will get 13+ hours with average use this phone will not go 2 days without charging unless you don't run apps and you leave it idle for most of the time.

how's the converage in the burnaby/new west border? i'm thinking about getting my mom the prepaid option w/ unlimited incoming

impulseX 02-11-2012 10:32 PM

dont quote me on this, but the coverage overall is pretty good. i have yet to have any complaints. and im fairly sure i had reception when i was in that area..

Teh Doucher 02-13-2012 11:02 PM

So I finally ended up porting to wind. So far the only spots I've encountered that I don't get any reception have been inside my house.. Lol. Pretty much full bars everywhere else I go.

If you're behind several layers of walls inside your house then you won't be getting very good reception. However, if you're near Windows, it should be good (assuming you got great outdoor reception).

Ya I guess this is the case. It only works properly in certain rooms of my house. Luckilly its the rooms I'm always in.

How's MMS working for everyone? I can't receive any picture messages on my 9900. Maybe its just something with my phone?

i've been tempted by a couple friends to switch over to iphone, but I just recently got the 9900 in the windtab. Bberry's for life!

FerrariEnzo 02-16-2012 04:11 AM

If its a rogers phone, then no. Must support AWS bands, so a t-mobile unlocked phone would work. Upgrade to the 9900, same keyboard but with touchscreen!!

aws. if you use your 9000 you'll get charged roaming for data and possibly calls because 2g is roaming. 3g for all the unlimited stuff. bb9000 doesnt have the supported frequency.

you can always try it for up to 15 days or 30 minutes and return for a full refund (minus the pro-rated usage that they'll charge you)

WIND Mobile to release the HTC Radar on February 21st for $399 outright

http://mobilesyrup.com/wp-content/up...ind-radar1.png

SaskTel is not the only carrier in Canada that’s releasing the HTC Radar Windows Phone – both Wind Mobile and Videotron are on deck (not yet sure about Mobilicity). SaskTel released this yesterday and it’s now confirmed that WIND Mobile will have the Radar available on February 21st for $99 on the WINDtab+, or $399 outright. As we’ve stated before, the Radar is WIND’s first Windows Phone device an comes with a 3.8-inch display (resolution of 480 x 800), 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera that shoots 720p HD videos, and has a VGA front-facing camera.

I've never had any problems; and I used to go to see my Grandpa in Surrey via Annacis Island. Had coverage there. Upside: no coverage, just flip the phone, no contracts.

Looks like Wind is opening up in Metrotown beside TnT Supermarket.
I believe they have a special promotion. Forgot what it was tho.

WIND Mobile changing rate plans and add-ons March 1st, here are the details…

http://mobilesyrup.com/wp-content/up...0459862672.png

The wind is shifting over at WIND Mobile. Rate plan changes are in the works and here’s the complete details for you. Axed are the names of their current “Clever”, “Smart”, “Brilliant” and “Genius” talk/text/data plans, and actually so will 2 of their plans. Effective March 1st you’ll only see what will be called the “WIND25″ and the “WIND40″ plan, both $25/month and $40/month respectively. We’ve been informed that those on old plans will be grandfathered and in the internal doc it states that customers “will not experience any rate increases or service changes”. In addition, there are some new add-ons pricing, WINDTab changes and Pay-Per-Use prices changes coming too, here’s the breakdown:

WIND25:
- Unlimited Calling (local and WIND-to-WIND)
- Unlimited Text & Picture Message (No US)
- Call Control (Call ID, Call Forwarding, Conference Calling, Missed Call Alerts)
- 100MB data is included
- WINDTab limit increases to $200
- No Voicemail

WIND40:
- Unlimited data
- Unlimited Calling (Canada-wide, local and WIND-to-WIND)
- Unlimited Text & Picture Message (No US or International texts)
- Call Control (Call ID, Call Forwarding, Conference Calling, Missed Call Alerts)
- WINDTab limit increases to $500
- No Voicemail

In addition, here’s the structure of the new add-ons:
- Voicemail plus is $8/month, includes ability to store 50 messages
- Unlimited US calling and text messaging is $10/month
- World Saver Talk and text: $8/month
- Preferred US Roaming rates: $5/month ($0.15/min, $0.05/text, $0.50/MB)
- Premium Data: 10GB full speed vs. 5GB without

So there you have it. Look for these March 1st. More after the break…
(Thanks tipster!)
