were you making a call or anything?
i've had situations where the reception bars on my phone drop to 1 or no bars, yet i'd still be connected to the network and still be able to use my data or txt. data obviously wasnt the strongest, but it still worked.

Anyone here on the Pay Your Way plans?

FerrariEnzo 09-10-2012 12:44 PM

WIND Cover Photo Maker

Any word if the iphone 5 will be avaialbe for wind?

willystyle 09-10-2012 01:56 PM

iPhone 5 will never be available on AWS. Just give it up already. It's good that it won't be available cause WIND's network will not be able to support the traffic.

dsot 09-10-2012 02:10 PM

How is WIND's reception at SFU?

willystyle 09-10-2012 02:13 PM

Last that I've heard, they have poor reception up at SFU due to current lease agreements. They cannot setup any towers there until that expires.

dsot 09-10-2012 02:15 PM

When do they expire?

willystyle 09-10-2012 05:30 PM

I believe it's 2014-2015.

asuri 09-10-2012 07:47 PM

reception is extremely terrible at SFU. whilst you're in classrooms, no bars at all. outside of classrooms in buildings you get 1-2 bars max. outside is a totally different story though.

I'm getting fed up with rogers, I want to make the jump to Wind but I still got 1yr left on my contract with rogers:fuuuuu:

wyuzz 09-10-2012 08:41 PM

I had to pay $450 in cancellations fees to Robbers because of the lack of service and the horrendous plan after being a 10 year customer, I ported my number over to wind in taking advantage of the BTS plan.

I hear you on that but I suppose on the bright side is unless you live in some rural area, unlike Wind and Mobil you won't ever look at how many bars you have because you know you will be good. I honestly haven't looked at how many bars I have in years.

Wind may not be able to handle the traffic, but that doesn't mean the next iPhone wont be able to run on Wind. T-Mobile (uses AWS)has been gearing up their network to use the iPhone. so like usual, is still all speculative.

who knows besides Apple?:suspicious:

EDIT: yeah AWS gets fucked again

worth the fee imo. i cancelled fido with a 2 year data contract left and half a year mobile contract. costed me $300 i believe but was well worth it. and the savings pays for the cancellation fee (mine takes 11 months to pay off the cancellation from the savings)

FerrariEnzo 09-11-2012 03:36 PM

besides the lack of phone options.. I dont mind Wind... Reception is ok for me...

iPhone 5 will be announced in a few days. If there are any truth of a AWS model, there would be rumors already.

StylinRed 09-11-2012 07:42 PM

Are you guys able to turn your phones into a wifi hotspot still??

I havent used it in awhile and I tried the other day and couldn't, still can't -_-

not sure if its something wrong with my phone or wind

kwy 09-11-2012 08:01 PM

Graeme S 09-11-2012 08:11 PM

Same.. i just said fuck it and pay the penalty

i had 1 year left with telus when i signed up for iphone 4 back in sept '10.. they charge me $20 a month so total was $240.. plus my regular $80 a month bill with 500mb and $50 for unlocking the iphone

so iv been with wind for 2 days now, other than having 1 bar or no reception at my work in the building and warehouse.. and a friend's house in south van.

i say all around lower mainland, i get great reception and data speed on 4 bars.. especially richmond.. even at 2 bars at a high rise apt, i still get good reception calls

got an S3 with $29 unlimited and $8 voicemail.. also if you have student id they give you $25 credit on first month
