Even if you have to roam, its so cheap. I use data all the time when I'm in the states and I end up spending $3 for the day. |

I would not be opposed to trying them again in the future when they get more towers. |

I stayed with Wind for over three years. Complained every month about dead zones in a wind zone where my home is. They never addressed it. Moral of the story, if you need solid dependable service, go with a big company. |
Been with Wind since 2010, I noticed during this summer till now, the reception is not like it was before. I'm not getting reception in places that I used to get reception in. |
I was with wind for 4 years since they launched... Was good and cheap... Most of the it worked.... But finally gave up when they didnt have pockets for the one of best spectrum.... Sure they can bid for 2600mhz or whatever mhz next year.... But just not the same as 700mhz... |
so basically stay in vancouver/burnaby for reception and the rest ie. surrey has shit reception? thinking of switching over from fido as they don't have note 4 and I'm not sure if retentions will give me my plan still if I decide to do a phone upgrade. |
I posted in this thread a while back about my nightmares with this company...but bottom line, all the stories of dead zones, shitty service, bad reception etc are all true. I made a huge, expensive mistake switching to Wind. The only plus I can give them is the roaming rates. But you would have to be in the US a shit ton to make the poor service worth it. Moved to Virgin and never had an issue since. |

Cross Canada Plan this plan seems pretty good. its like roaming included on top of the already cheap standard roaming rates and wind is expanding i believe |
too bad the $10 doesn't stack lol but still pretty good for what it is |
Is wind pretty much the same shitty service its always been? They're doing quite a bit of advertising about their coverage across Canada now, just wondering if the service has gotten any better as a result of this. |
Anyone? Lol |
it's gotten a lot better but still a lot of room for improvement when did wind drop the HTC One M8? went in to buy it as a present but it's gone..ended up getting a Z3 |
They advertise coverage across Canada because of the partnership with Telus when roaming. I haven't noticed my reception get any better though. In fact, it got worse in Surrey/Guildford area. Still get deadspots and takes 5 min to reconnect to the network. But I'm still only paying $44 a month for unlimited everything so I'll deal with it. And I've only been with them for a year so I don't know how bad it was before that. |
I've been going everywhere for work so I'll chime in. I got full bars in Vancouver area and inside buildings would also be full or 1 bar down from full. Langley I'd get full bars outside but inside the building would be roaming or 1-2 bars. Funny thing is a Co worker would have no reception while I'd have 1-2 bars in the exact spot. Had to drive to squamish the other day and there was no reception half way. |
guys I was with Wind for 2.5 years.... and used to recommend it to everyone I knew.. but these last few months have been horrible in terms of dead zones, service disconnects where even restarting the phone wouldn't work sometimes, at times I had to pull over my car to reconnect... and no not out in the suburbs somewhere, I'm talking like East Vancouver.... (my device brand new Nexus 5 purchased from Google store) Wind has a fuckin dead zone literally on the stretch of Boundary and Kerr street below Champlain Mall area, it's where my parents live... if you look at their coverage map, the dead zone is there and it sticks out like a sore thumb makes 0 sense... I had both my dad and me under my account and we could not take it anymore, Wind had definitely gotten worse in these last few months because it was never like that before. Switched over to Virgin, paying $45 monthly, ($15 more than wind but more than worth it) I get bars everywhere I go, no drops or disconnects, they have happened a few times if I'm walking into a building or parking, etc... but it literally takes seconds for it to reconnect itself soon as I'm outside, I don't have to spend minutes dicking around going in manually searching for networks, restarting phone, etc.... And probably the most impressive thing is the difference in Data speeds.. with Wind using data was slow as shit even with full bars, and I'm talking surfing normal webpages I ain't even talkin youtube vids or nothing like that.... Virgin's data feels like I'm at home connected to my WiFi network |
^ I know how you feel about the Killarney area. I was experiencing the same issues too when I was over there frequently in the past. However, besides the Killarney area, and thedecrease in speed (generally in Metro Vancouver), I haven't experienced much dropped connections and dead zones. I do agree that WIND really needs to upgrade their network to improve data speed and dead zones, but for me, I'm content with their service at the moment. |

Anyone know is there somewhere to check for future promos for Wind? The $44 dollar deal is ending February 1st, so wondering what kind of promo (if any) will there be. |

If they are leaked, you'll find them on mobile syrup. |
So with all these problems, is this still a good promo? https://www.windmobile.ca/plans-and-...ming-promotion |
I switched to this plan. I enjoy being able to use data in the US without having to worry about data charges. Unsure if it will work in places like Point Roberts though. |

In all honesty tho, if you sign up for their new plans now, you get monthly credits back anyway. You can use those credits towards roaming, and considering how inexpensive WIND's roaming rates are (compared to Robellus for both US and domestic roaming). You should have plenty to spare. |

Mobi Customers Offer I don't qualify as I'm already with Wind. But if you're serious about switching, read up on it at RFD. I believe you just need to switch over from Mobilicity to get 6 months free. So perhaps just get an unlocked phone like an N5 and go from there. |
