All I can say is try it out... If you have a Wind compatible phone, why not.. If may or may not be for you.. Cheaps plan with data is $30.. if you can spare that... or go pay your way and put a the smallest amount money and use the $2 Unlimited All Day pass and try the data and little calling in the areas you frequent the most...

If you dont have a Wind compatible phone.. you can buy a phone and return it with 14days or less then 30mins talk time? But I heard people had trouble sometimes so be warned.. haha or just buy a cheap wind phone.. but your experience may not be has good..

Since I dont do a lot of calling and I have Wifi at work/home, it only seems logical to go wind and save money... Robelus plans can get pricey if you dont get on a corp plan...

Atlantis 12-20-2013 08:39 PM

acura604 is this corp plan for everyone ? :D

Any wind users considered switching to Fido or virgins $39 plan?

BREAKING NEWS

Wind Mobile pulls out of 700mhz spectrum auction

It now seems Wind is a sinking ship... Is it time to jump ships...

Spoon 01-13-2014 02:03 PM

Whether they participate or not, it's the same story. Someone will eventually buy them out whether it be the Canadian Big 3 or a foreign company.

As a customer, their future really does not matter to me. They get bought out, I port out to another provider if I'm not happy with their price/service. I don't see the urgency to bail before that happens.

FerrariEnzo 01-13-2014 02:06 PM

Well... if you can get a better plan from 1 of the big 3 right now.. maybe worth to look into... but who knows... maybe the government will give Wind a deal on the auction to see if they want back in..

This is probably what Wind is banking on. Once more ideal terms are met or offered by the government, Wind will probably jump right back on.

Depending on your phone, you may have to change SMSC to wind's.

Wind launching new $15 monthly add on for unlimited US roaming on Feb 3rd - includes unlimited data, talk, and text.

WIND Mobile to launch $15/month 'Unlimited U.S. Roaming' add-on, gives unlimited data, talk and text | MobileSyrup.com

WOW

Gucci Mane 01-30-2014 07:37 PM

Game changer, indeed.

It just goes to show how little data cost these days, and how much the incumbents are overcharging us for their services. It will be CHEAPER to ROAM in the US, than for Canadians to "roam" at home. What a joke!

Psykopathik 02-01-2014 05:51 PM

This makes me giddy. Been to Hawaii multiple time and never knew where to go to get a cheap Sim and data.

This is a godsend. $15 for unlimited data and voice. Fuck what a bargain! FYI free WiFi is few and far between on the island. Tourist trap indeed.

Its limited to accounts that are $30 and higher tho. Data stick and pay as you go are outta luck.

Ch28 02-03-2014 12:52 AM

My mom's contract with Rogers is up in 2 weeks and I'm considering switching her to Wind so she can save some money.

She doesn't need data as she just uses WiFi at home. How is reception in Burnaby, Vancouver, and Richmond? Those are the main areas that she's always in, so reception in those 3 are the main importance.

FerrariEnzo 02-03-2014 07:28 AM

if she doesnt need data,
Chatter $20 get unlimited talk.. doesnt include txt, if she does txting..
Fido has a better deal if she wants to txt... $29 unlmited evenings/weekend and unlimited txt..

Id think she would reply on her phone when shes out.. Wind reception is good but at the same time it may not be good for all people.. it depends on how picky they are..

You can open a new line for her to try out...

Blame the big 3. I compare LTE speeds with my sister who use rogers and I use FIDO. Is pretty much the same speed but she is paying $20 more but getting less data......

StylinRed 02-03-2014 07:06 PM

wth i didnt know wind pulled out of the auction, i was looking forward to LTE

that $15 us roaming is awesome, i hope it doesn't disappear though would like to add it in the summer

It should be the same speed. They use the same network since rogers owns fido.

Does Wind use T Mobile in the states or AT&T?

TPMarko 02-04-2014 02:16 PM

mostly t-mobile when i was in honolulu and seattle

Jer3 02-05-2014 03:45 AM

just curious, i'll probably only be back in vancouver for 2-3 months. does the $30 plan require a contract? it doesn't say on the site. just looking for a decent short-term phone plan with data. already have an unlocked phone ready to go.

edit. just found the "no term contracts" phrase on the site. is it just that simple? start and cancel anytime you'd like?

Spoon 02-05-2014 06:04 AM

^
No contract. But if you're a heavy user, just be prepared for spotty coverage. It's been good to me for the most part though.
