He's raited as the top goalie in this years draft and will be going fairly early I think. (for a goalie that is)

if marty retires.....would NJ consider taking Luongo off our hands for the rights of Parise + another player....???

And with Roberto's cap space out of the picture, i'm sure we can fit parise in.....and maybe parise would take a discount to play with this Olympic linemate....Booth, Kesler, Parise...what would be a sick line...would rival the twins for our "1st line".

Devils' Martin Brodeur will play next season, hopes to stay in New Jersey | NJ.com

Marty thinks he'll stay.

I highly doubt we'll acquire Parise.

suggestions mr.armchair gm?

we already have 14.2 mil dedicated to our first line...
should be +2 more mil considering burr is due for a raise after next season

Good thing we have Malhotra contract expiring too. That will help Burrows increase in salary.

As much as I want to see Ballard succeed and playing more, his salary at $4+ million is a drag playing on the third pairing.

Look at the Kings, aside from Doughty, Willie is the highest pay at $3.5 million.

Scuderi and Greene were paid $3 and $2+ million.

Voynov and Martinez is combined for $1.5 million next season.

trancehead 06-13-2012 01:42 PM

interesting to what will become of our third line

Anyone read the reports that Parise will receive the most money as a free agent this off-season in an offer from the Minnesota Wild, according to former Wild general manager, Lou Nanne.

Report: Zach Parise, Devils captain, will receive biggest offer from Minnesota Wild | SI Tracking Blog

Quote:

“I had dinner with [Wild owner] Craig Leipold on Wednesday night,” Nanne said. “I know Chuck Fletcher and Leipold really want Parise, and what Craig told me is how hard he’s going to go after him, and the kind of money he’s going after him [with] — I don’t see how Parise’s not coming here.

[I] can tell you this: No one is going to outbid the Wild. So if Parise goes somewhere else, you can bet he’s going for less money. What I said is, ‘the kind of money that they’re going to offer him, he might as well just come here and own the team and in his later years, win the Stanley Cup as an owner.”

@DarrenDreger: Canucks file "cutdown" arbitration on Mason Raymond. Q.O is $2.6 million. Salary can't drop more than to $2.21 million if Van wins arb case.

kwy 06-13-2012 02:39 PM

If I were Parise, I wouldn't want to live and play in Minnesota.

Why not? He was born there.

The way raymond played last year he only deserves 1 mil

Gumby 06-13-2012 03:43 PM

I'm surprised they didn't just let Raymond walk!

Why? They already have Jacob Markström who they took in the first round a couple years back. He should be ready to make the jump sooner than later.

Also, I'm okay with Raymond as along as he's on the third line and people don't expect too much from him. If he gets a couple goals and is sound defensively, then that's fine with me. He sucked in comparison to his 25 goal season, but that was clearly the anomaly. People need to stop thinking he's going to get 25 goals again and settle for the player that he is.

Tim Budong 06-13-2012 04:04 PM

doesnt matter how shitty Raymond played last year,
one does not simply let a player "walk"

JesseBlue 06-13-2012 04:07 PM

for the qo that raymond will get, i'd rather trade away his rights...he's not worth the same value ($ wise) as burrows...

i still want to see both luongo and schneider tandem next year...

screw the leafs rumours...i want them to suck for a little while longer...until we win the cup...

highfive 06-13-2012 04:21 PM

David Jones and his 37 points can command $4 million vs Raymond $2.1 million and many skate down the wing stop and falls plus his 20 goals. Who would you take?

i think a lot of teams have twins figured out by now

:rukidding:

Why? Because they're not physical? They're not speedy? They don't attract the same attention as Crosby and Ovechkin do?

Hondaracer 06-13-2012 07:37 PM

from here on in, EVERY team we play in the playoffs is going to play the Sedins as physical as possible, unless they can play an overall tougher game our window is closed, simple as that.

i dont care about the Corey/Lu shit, it's the Sedins and Kesler that drive the team, if they dont go we dont go anywhere

current ufa list: 2012 NHL Free Agents | NHL Free Agents | 2012 NHL Free Agency

old rfa list: 2012 NHL Free Agents - Restricted by team | NHL Free Agents | 2012 NFL Restricted Free Agents | My NHL Trade Rumors.com

for the 2nd line: id be willing to overpay for ray whitney. id also try for parentau, hes a good playmaker but hes going to get a decent payday after he may have greatly benefited from tavares.
defence: garrison, mitchell, zanon would be the dmen to look at i think. mitchell probably re-signs with la though. if worst comes to worst i see gillis maybe looking at one of spacek/kuba/kubina
3rd/4th line: experience and grit.langenbruner, moen, arnott type player

kristianhay 06-14-2012 08:11 AM

Interesting.
