Why not just move the AHL team to Vancouver? Toronto has their team in the ACC as well, why can't the Canucks? I'm sure there's plenty of people who can't afford Canuck games in the lower mainland that would definitely go. Management can keep an even closer eye on prospects.
I can see this happening rather then Abby. | You do realize, Abby and Vancouver are both in the Lower Mainland... Quote:

Pretty surprised Calgary is willing to up and move so easy. They have a sweet deal with Abby for the next few years, any operational losses are covered by the city. So it's a risk free deal for the Flames, and not to mention Abby is close to Calgary as well.
Abby supposedly is willing to throw more money at the Flames to make them leave so the Canucks can move in and hopefully do better with attendance than the current Heat are. Where is Abby getting all this money from??? I wouldn't be surprised if Aquaman is throwing money at the Flames to get them to move as well. | The City of Abbotsford sees very significant returns on Tradex and YXX, so they're able to dig deep. Abbotsford has been subsidizing the Heat by $800,000-$1,500000 annually, suffers further losses related to the team above that, and has lost opportunity costs to consider, so with 6 years (?) remaining on the contract up to $10,000,000 to get them out seems plausible. It would probably take that too, the arrangement doesn't get much more ideal for the Flames. |
