Blues going to have trouble signing Petriangelo/Shattenkirk/Berglund/Stewart after this season with Jay Bouw on the team now too.

Gilgamesh 04-01-2013 10:39 PM

they have 26 mil in cap space for next year. They can afford the RFAs if they become a cap ceiling team and Leopold's 3mil and Langenbrunner's 1.5mil cap hits will probably come off the books. I think they can barely squeeze in.

EmperorIS 04-01-2013 10:54 PM

Pretty much teams know how to lock down Sedins and break our cycle/puck possession. AKA we need a new team :)

Mike Oxbig 04-01-2013 11:21 PM

Vancouver Canucks: cycle, cycle, drop pass, pass to blue line for slap shot, get rebound, repeat.

Sentinel 04-01-2013 11:32 PM

The thing I hate about our powerplays... of the 2 minutes, they spend: 50 seconds chasing it, 1 min passing it around a million times, and if we are lucky... 10 seconds of trying to shoot.

They have to learn to stop passing a million freaking times and just shoot the damn thing. Yeah you are trying to set up, but fuck, forget about the pretty plays and just get it in.

subordinate 04-01-2013 11:48 PM

I don't think we need another sedin on the Sedin Line. Jensen's offensive abilities is great and all, but he needs an edge to his game - finish his checks hard and so fourth (I believe this was an issue with his minor or swedish club, he wasn't finishing his checks). Maybe....combine Jensen and Kassian (then again, Kassian hasn't done much physically).

It's all fine and dandy during regular season, but playoffs, it's going to be similar results.

Need that power forward. Ryan clowe is pricey......

spideyv2 04-02-2013 12:07 AM

Clowe would be a solid acquisition, depending on if his shoulder is completely healed or not

Not really racist! 04-02-2013 12:10 AM

If we want to acquire him we're gonna have to overpay, just a matter of how much

1st round and impact prospect is too much for me

dbaz 04-02-2013 12:12 AM

Canucks need to stop rotating forwards and allow for some chance of chemistry. the team realistically needs to acquire 3 players to go somewhere. A top 6 set up man, 2 bottom 6 players with preference to someone who can win faceoffs. on top of this they more than likely need another dman still unless they plan to bring corrado up. barker and alberts dont cut it
sedin-sedin-burrows
jensen/kass- kesler- ?(team needs to trade for one. ribeiro/jagr/hemsky, yes hemsky as all the guy does is pass.ribeiro could really change the way thigngs go as you could move kesler to a 3c.)
hansen-schroeder-raymond
higgins-laps-?
2 bottoms 6 guys (glencross, torres,?)

To make these moves it would more than likely mean that the picks for this year would be gone along with a goalie and possibly kassian. If they go half ass then its obvious major retooling during the summer.

no toughness and grit = no cup

easy as that, doesn't matter how much talent u have

Word, even teams like Detroit when they won the cup, had grit - maybe not to the extent of Boston, but enough.

Mike Oxbig 04-02-2013 12:43 AM

If no clutch winger for our playoff run then...hansen-schroeder-raymond probably need to play on the second line to put up points

higgins kesler kassian for 3rd line :D

Sniperslayer 04-02-2013 06:23 AM

Henrik sounds like Naslund 2.0 with his assement on the scoring. Big talk with same results

Bergeron to Carolina for A. Hall and a 7th round pick. #tradecentre
Marc-Andre Bergeron, that is.

Told the Dallas Stars have decided to trade Jaromir Jagr. My sense is Boston leads the list of front-runners
Would love Jagr if he had a decent price tag. Would be great for our top 6. I know we need a 3rd line center, but we need to start putting the puck in the net.

30 Thoughts: Dallas is team to watch at NHL trade deadline | Hockey | CBC Sports

Quote:

14. Vancouver's been asked about Mason Raymond, an unrestricted free agent to be. The Canucks played hardball with him in contract negotiations, partially to rattle his cage, and he's responded. Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero, for example, believes in versatility during the cap era and Raymond's looked pretty good in a small trial at centre. Thing is, Vancouver needs that versatility, too.

15. Roberto Luongo: Wherever he did or didn't want to go before, there's no doubt he wants to go now. He's worked hard to make the best of it, but we've moved from sharing the net to losing it entirely. He's not going to be picky, but are the Canucks willing to make this deal if it doesn't lead to a significant addition at centre? That's always been the idea.

Waivers today: Kurtis Foster (PHI), Mike Santorelli (FLA), Steve Montador and Rostislav Olesz (CHI), Hall (TB) and Barker (VAN).
Barker waived, trade incoming? At least making room for something I hope.

#Canucks trade for #Stars Roy for 2nd pick and prospect. #TradeTracker

7seven 04-02-2013 08:33 AM

As a Sabres fan, warning about Roy, on ice he makes a solid 2nd line top 6 guy. Off ice, he can wear out his welcome quick with teammates, there were some issues with his partying and showing up drunk at charity and team events being a fool.

jeedee 04-02-2013 08:34 AM

Any other rumors/"insider" info 7seven?

I remember you 'predicted' the Burrows signing and Doan coming close to signing with the Canucks
