The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly gotten permission to talk to Miikka Kiprusoff.

Kiprusoff doesn't have a no trade clause, but there's been reports that he'd refuse to play if Calgary trades him. With that in mind, the Maple Leafs probably want to know where he stands on the matter and, if possible, warm him to the idea of playing in Toronto. As successful a career as Kiprusoff has had, frankly James Reimer has been the better goaltender this season and could use the playoff experience, so if the Leafs are getting Kiprusoff to serve as the starter, then it's a loss for Toronto regardless of what they actually give Calgary. That being said, if Kiprusoff is brought on to serve primarily as a mentor for Reimer and a fallback option should Reimer falter, then it would be a solid addition to the team. It's worth noting that Kiprusoff is signed through 2013-14 with an average annual cap hit of $5,833,333, so he wouldn't merely be a rental.

Feaster is finally rebuilding... now get rid of Kipper if he can for another 1st and they'll have four 1st rounders (1 of them conditional IIRC) and they'll be in good shape for this years deep draft

Kipper is a better option for the Leafs than Luongo. Standing pat with Reimer and Scrivens is the best move. A Calgary blogger suggested a 3rd and a mid-level prospect like Carter Ashton. Can't see him accepting a trade just to be a backup/insurance which is what I would want him to do.

Clowe would bring some immediate toughness to our line-up for sure but he isn't the same guy he was a couple seasons ago, in fact has been declining this season, guy's UFA after this season too so hes gonna be a rental.

If we want a Cup we're gonna need a legit top 6 forward and add some grit, Kassian can't do it himself and Sestito is a fucking plug.

To be honest, I just ball parked his numbers. But just now I checked his stats. 450pts, 12 seasons, roughly 38 pts/season average? I actually thought it was higher. I have nothing against the guy, I'm just saying personally, I dont think he's worth 6mil. Cammalleri will probably one of those 'really good' players who will never win any personal awards or hoist a cup.
