Blackvue DR380G HD/ 400G/400G II Review

Hey can any one these be set to record the entire time while parked instead of just when the sensor senses someone?

asr 12-29-2012 01:42 AM

For sure. Any one of these cameras will do if you set the motion sensitivity over medium level to top level. The motion sensors will be so sensitive that the cameras will keep recording. However, your vehicle battery voltage will drop faster because the cameras are never under stand by mode.
Stand by mode will help the battery drop slower and the camera will not be that warm. If you have any further questions, please follow up.

Need some help here.

Had the 380 with power magic pro installed last week and I'm having parking mode problems. It's already set to 11.8v for cut off.

Seems like everytime I turn off the car, the max it will record is <1hr. I've tried charging the battery overnight and trying it again, but results are the same.

When the camera stops recording, I measured the battery with my eliminator charger and it still reads ~12.4v. Is it not reading correctly? Would a multimeter be more accurate?

My car (driven daily) is a little bit over 2 yrs. Would the battery be the problem? Or is there something wrong with the power magic pro.

asr 12-30-2012 01:23 AM

I need to test your battery first when the power magic pro shuts down. Try setting the timer to INIFINITY time on your power magic pro. I set the motion sensitivity very low on that unit because I don't really want it turn on/off quite off unless people reach your vehicle.
After I installed the power magic pro, I test your battery voltage is 12.08V. I set the configured voltage to 11.8V. The power magic pro cut the power off for some reason for sure. Bring your car back, and I will check it for ya

Thanks for the quick reply William! It seems like I might have found the problem.

New BMW's (looks like Mini too) have a battery "sleep" mode after about 30 minutes. They suggest hardwiring to the battery which I don't want to do.

I'm going to test out other fuses to see if there is 1 that will not "sleep". I will update u soon

Edit. Changed to another fuse that doesn't go on standby and it's all good now

asr 12-30-2012 02:39 PM

so which constant one you connect to? Also did you connect the wire to no power end on the
fuse panel?

Moved the wire from the "interior lights" to the "comfort access" [keyless entry] one. Been working great so far.

Thanks again.

TopsyCrett 01-03-2013 03:32 PM

Hey ASR, have you tried using a GoPro yet? any ways to hard-wire one?

asr 01-03-2013 04:50 PM

^Go pro is for sporty video recording. It should be not hard to hardwiring one. But what is the purpose to hardwiring a go pro? Night footages is horrible. Dont know how the night image quality on a HERO3 Black edition tho.

I don't think you can even hardwire cause it only runs on battery power no external power plugs on it. Also it doesn't auto start recording or anything so you will have to do it yourself

^Teh Interwebs of Joe | My GoPro hard wire setup and remote trigger.$$$ I...
I am wondering you still need to invest more than over $100 for hardwiring a Go Pro. Does it really worth the money to do?

The night quality is actually pretty decent with my Hero 3 Black. Thanks for the input!
