Take a riding course to learn how to survive the street . The Ninja 250 is about the best starter bike out there as well as the Honda CBR 250. Yes, it is a little low on power as stated but if you ride the 250 for a season, then save up some money and take an A.R.T. (Advanced Rider Training) or Track Days on your 250 and get the most out of it. LEARN on the 250 then move up if you want. It is better to be fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike (right Mr. Sunfighter) |
Also user preference as well, 250 is a great starter bike but also depends how you ride. In the city or HWY, adventuring, racing, touring, ect. Maybe you might prefer a cruiser. Posted via RS Mobile |

If you have the money, buy the best protection you can get. For some people who don't, just buy what you can and either... add to it over time, or upgrade an item little by little. 2) I've been everywhere but I seem to get the best deals at Modern with Aaron. 3) 250 ninja is a good starter bike but I personally started on a 2007 CBR 125. I out grew that within a month though, but I started with it, not because it was an easy bike but because it was a cheap bike to get started. Last summer some of them were advertising on CL from $1600 - $2000 for expensive ones. When I was looking for Ninja 250's, they were more or less around the range of 3K. |
If you need a full kit of protective gear, yes Modern on Commercial is a great place for deals. His prices are inline with the US internet shops (once shipping & your time is included) I was there yesterday to buy some pants |
only thing modern hasn't been able to beat on price so far for me is tires. |

i don't think they could beat motorcycle superstore on sale lol |
But you still have to mount the tire. Shops charge extra when they did not sell you the tire. |
even with that extra cost. i paid 195 for both tires shipped to PR, the best they could do was 295 or around that i think. i was also getting some other work done to the bike at the same time i had them mount the tires. |
For gear modern hooked me up the other day on gloved and a helmet. I'm sure if I bought boots and a jacket the discount would have kept going down. CL-17 HJC Helmet and Alpinestars SP-8 gloves. Helmet was listed at 149.99 and gloves were 99.99 Discount prices dropped it down to 129.99 for helmet and 79.99 on gloves. Better than what I could find online after shipping. |

The only knock i would probably have against Modern is selection. If prioritise selection over price, you're better off at bigger stores like Holeshot in Langley or Carter Honda in Vancouver. Holeshot is further though but they make up for it with cute and friendly female staff. Take it for what it's worth. Lol Posted via RS Mobile |

That is really turn lemons into lemonade. Ice and snow ... want to ride.... come up with a new type of event :) |
those spiked tires.... |
I'm not sure if I found the link for these here or elsewhere a while back but I just ordered a set of these. For the price they don't seem to bad, i'll let you know how they feel once I get them.
