Honestly, with kids, I don't blame ya. But the blanket statement from JDMDreams of $140 single way is just factually incorrect. If you really wanted to make it work, you have options. Leave first thing the next morning if you want. You'll still get to HSB by 7AM, at work by 9AM. Someone's gotta take the kid to daycare but still, you can make it work.

One time the silly GF was going for a weekend trip to the coast with her friend, they reserved a sailing for noon and those two dummies went to the Tsawwassen terminal instead.

Needless to say they missed their reso and ferry, and ended up having to wait three sailing waits after driving all the way across the city to Horseshoe Bay.

Fuck I got a kick outta that :lol

JDMdreams making shit up to complain? No…….. never.

Langdale-HSB run isn't so bad in the summer without resos. They run extra boats, and one of those boats they only reserve 10% of space. So yeah, waiting all day just to take the last ferry? Fuck that. Get in line and you'll be fine without a reso. Home by dinner.

hey.. happened to me once. I dated a chick from the island once and I picked her up from horseshoe bay. Then realized it was at Tsawwassen bay.

One thing about motorcycles is that you don't need reso. Still remember it was pouring rain, making it 5 mins before gate closes, but since I'm a motorcycle, i was able to be waived up and squeeze in. Best moment ever seeing all these getting rejected and backing down not being able to get on the ferry.

GLOW 08-18-2025 08:03 AM

no way in hell i'd take a ferry without a reso.

For those that did interior painting (walls, ceiling, baseboard, door trims, etc..) How much $/sf did it cost? Just tryna get approximate ranges ahead of time.

unit 08-21-2025 11:06 AM

what level of quality? if you want them to repair every little thing in the walls like bulges, dents, etc... gonna cost a lot more. we had 2 chinese guys do our house and just do the basic touchups and fillers beforehand, they did about 1200sf in 3 days including doors, trim, baseboards... took all the doors off, replaced all the old hinges for some nominal extra cost, was $6k including SW Duration paint. no ceilings.

EvoFire 08-21-2025 11:50 AM

What quality do you want? Sanding down all the ways to a smooth base AND THEN painting is going to give you a much smoother and pretty finish. Most painters may just block it a few times across the whole wall to knock down the nubs only and then it's orange peel galore.

My wife doesn't care as long as the wall is one colour, but to me it makes a huge difference. I spent a week sanding down all the walls in our townhouse before painting, I simply didn't have time with the house we upgraded to that was double the size and the paint quality suffered massively. A proper sanding job is going to take more time than the painting itself.

Hondaracer 08-21-2025 11:53 AM

A better quality/smoother finish will also be easier to clean

But at some point it’s diminishing returns

JDMDreams 08-21-2025 12:10 PM

Buddy guy special, paints over the electrical plugs covers and door hinges

JDMDreams 08-21-2025 12:13 PM

I'm surprised this isn't bigger news.

"2.4K Ontario real estate agents out of work after agency ordered to close"

https://globalnews.ca/news/11343875/...ealty-closure/

Wouldn't hundreds of millions of deals be affected?!

this, and do you want trim caulking checked/replaced/touched up?

it really depends what you want in the end of what you're even capable of noticing yourself.

blkgsr 08-22-2025 08:58 AM

anyone heard of the Manulife One mortgage?

i contacted my broker about seeing what it would take to swap to a mortgage with a heloc so we could look at doing the smith maneuver and she proposed this as rates currently aren't looking any better etc etc.

My friend is renting out a condo through FB Marketplace. The inquiries are 99% east Indian and African immigrants tryna go 2-3 ways on a 1 Bed + den.

She's asking $2,400 for a 1BR the older metro condos. I suggested she lower it by $1-200 and try to snipe a solo tenant. I can only imagine how much wear and tear there would be with 2-3 tenants, or one of them not paying.

Hondaracer 08-22-2025 11:11 AM

A guy I work with, young Indian guy bought a big house with his parents in Surrey. Typical house with two scabbed together basement suites

I tried to give him pointers on choosing tenants but he seemingly ignored me

In a span of 4 months he’s had 2 Indian guys who had a 3rd guy secretly move in, ultimately got booted out for playing music blaring at 3 am and making noise, fighting etc. they never even paid the deposit moved in, moved out same month

Next month Indian guy and a white girl, got into a domestic a week in, police come girl gets a restraining order, buddy moves all his shit out onto their driveway, says he’s gonna pick it up, ghosts them and now he is responsible for storing their shit :lol

3rd tenant shows up to move in, Indian family with a kid, refuses to give a deposit, starts moving their shit in, buddy has to boot them because they won’t provide deposit

:lol

I’m like bro.. wtf are you doing??

When I briefly posted my suite up I got the same emails, “is this suitable for 3 people??”

Yea.. a 1 br 1 bath is suitable for 3 adult men.. yes..

68style 08-22-2025 11:31 AM

Ahahaha their dreams of riches at the expense of their countrymen... in shambles

Hondaracer 08-22-2025 11:36 AM

Yea exactly.. I could tell right away their only concern was getting people in there and making $$$ as opposed to actually vetting decent tenants

The Metrotown Studio rental I mentioned some pages back had a family of 4, 2 of which are toddlers trying to apply. Even after viewing they literally told me they'll make it work. Also had a single mom wanting to turn 1 of the closets (not a walk-in) into a nursery for her newborn.

whitev70r 08-22-2025 12:05 PM

Times are tough especially for lots of refugees and recent immigrants.
