It has 8 core! Battery life has to be dismal. My international vs s3 is quad core and lasts a day. How about the carrier dual core version? How's the battery life on that?

heleu 03-19-2013 09:08 AM

The dual core S3 that I had lasted about a day with heavy usage. But I have 3 e-mail accounts syncing and I use it in meetings and on the train...

Szeto 03-19-2013 09:16 AM

My phone was at 100% when i woke up and by the time i got into my car which was about 10 minutes later i was looking at 96%. Any good tips on revitalizing the batteries?

You do know that just because it has 8 cores it doesn't mean all of them are active at the same time. Newer tech is always more efficient.

My Nexus 4 is quad core. It lasts just as long as my Galaxy Nexus dual core.

hm, battery is currently at 51% since unplugging the charger around 7:50 AM. Screen is set on auto brightness, no auto sync at all except the weather widget which updates every 3 hours and I have barely used the phone since I am at work. Also checked the apps running in background, no crazy app running in the background except gmail, whatsapp, phone, and chompsms.

I am gonna try and uninstall this GoLauncher and all of these Go-apps to see it that improves the battery life...

You have LTE or Wifi on? I am at 88% since unplugging around the same time. Screen is at lowest, auto-sync on, checking once or twice, NFC on, LTE/Wifi/Bluetooth off, typical apps on, using NovaLauncher.

What are the top apps listed in the battery menu?

Not quite sure where that is but I checked under Settings then Battery and here are the top 5 and now at 37%. It is discharging outrageously fast. No LTE/Wifi/Bluetooth/NFC, just regular 4G. I googled and apparently poor reception drains the battery more than anything else.

Phone 30%
Screen 23%
Android OS 14%
Device idle 8%
Cell standby 7%

A coworker just looked at my phone and said the GPS thingy drains battery. Do you have it turned on all the time or just when you need to use the location-service?

sonick 03-19-2013 12:52 PM

Ah that may be why, I never leave GPS on. Only turn it on when I actually need navigation or need to know exactly where I am. Even when using location service the rough location it gets via the 4G is good enough for me.

mr_chin 03-19-2013 05:44 PM

I unplug everyday at 5:30am and by 12pm I will be around 61% with heavy browsing. I have fb, instagram, gmail, whatsapp sync on. bluetooth, lte and gps on at all times. screen is around 40% brightness. weather widget at 3 hour update. single page home screen.

Some things to try:

- use fixed brightness
- download appbrain ad detector and scan for ads
- turn auto rotate off

kingdrew 03-19-2013 10:30 PM

I don't think the upgrades are good enough for me to ditch my s3. I've only had it since June :/

terkan 03-21-2013 03:30 AM

so will there be an international version with 2600mhz lte? i want a 8 core phone even though i'll never ever have use for it lol. if i'm going to pay the same amount anyways i might as well get more cores out of it XD

hongy 03-26-2013 02:05 PM

More core's does not = less battery life.

I remember reading a release from nvidia showing data comparing multi cored processors.

EDIT: Here - http://www.nvidia.ca/content/PDF/teg...aper-0911a.pdf

BaoTurbo 03-26-2013 10:55 PM

^Too long. Didn't read it

I believe you. You win :okay:

Release on Apr 19? How legit is this site?

Rogers to Launch Galaxy S4, HTC One on April 19 | TechnoBuffalo

also for a HTC one vs. S4 comparison:

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. HTC One: Army of two - GSMArena.com

think i'm leaning towards the S4 solely on the camera quality...

k2damax 04-03-2013 04:02 PM

If that is legit then yaay new phone on the 19th :D

blee123 04-07-2013 09:04 PM

so i heard its available to Rogers on April 19th or something? can anyone confirm? and how much will it be with a 3 year contract?

I'm thinking about the S4 as well. I love my note 2, but the allure of the 1080P screen is soooo tempting.

djstyles 04-15-2013 09:49 AM

Also the idea of having the phone fit in my jeans more comfortably is a plus.

Should I pre-order? Then again I probably think that its better to wait until its out and tested then make my decision to get it or not....

Im an impatient person so I just pre-ordered it. Should be somewhat problem free as was the case when I bought my S2 and S3 when they were first released.
