do you guys use screen protectors? i wonder how legit the gorilla glass 3 will be in the long run..

Port Man 05-09-2013 06:28 AM

Here you have it...

S4 cracked the most, then S3, iPhone 5 survived without a crack ALL falling from 4 foot onto their corners

I find gorilla glass more geared towards scuffs and scratches rather than drop tests. My last GG shattered from a knee high drop.

I don't know if its due to the design of the iphone or not, but the 2 samsung's ended up bouncing a few times before laying flat, while as the iphone pretty much went flat after the drop. That might've attributed to the difference in damage?

Metal vs Plastic. The plastic will flex and bounce hence the shattering of the glass.

IMHO. Drop tests are useless.

Personally, a phone can have gorilla class 1000000000, but I will slap an invisibleshield on it regardless. Invisibleshields are good and I get them for like $8 tax included.

It also sounds better if you are selling the phone a year down the road that you've had a screen protector since day 1.

I think for some people is good. Say my mom and my sister they drop their phones all the time.

Unless you have your hands clean ALL the time before touching your phone, it will probably get scratched sooner or later from tiny dirt/sand particles.
A screen protector is always a good investment imo

I've never liked screen protectors. Maybe I just haven't given myself a chance to get used to them. I prefer the way the phone feels.

I keep thinking of my Grandma's sofas covered in plastic when I see a screen protector.

Just got my GS4 today.. phone is great.. just one problem though..

If any of you use nice IEM's for music, there's a pretty serious sound crackling issue on the GS4..

Xda and headfi members are discussing about the problem right now.

You can buy rubber dust caps for the USB and headphone ports from Dealextreme, but it might not out for S4 yet.

Lol these tests are so stupid

Just got myself the Spigen Slim Armour case. Its very well designed and is very slim for a case that covers all four corners and is also impact resistant. Definetly more sturdy and grippy but not as slim as my Spigen Ultra Fit slim case. Ill post some pics for you guys later

Is there anywhere to get spigen cases locally? I want the neo hybrid and would prefer to pick it up locally rather then having to wait for shipping.

Are you guys using the north american quad core or the international octo core version?
I did some research and one concluded that the octo-core version is faster and better in all benchmarks slightly.
However, it was recommended you stick to the one for your region.

Another say it doesn't matter.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs: Exynos vs. Snapdragon Doesn't Matter, Says CEO JK Shin

I'll be upgrading from bb9700 to s4 in very near future. Both s4 versions will be big upgrade either way but not sure if it matters too much.
What are your thoughts?

asian_XL 05-12-2013 12:20 AM

Exynos usually come with 3G. I would rather get a dual core + LTE than the fastest CPU + 3G that you can't go on the internet freely.

if CPU speed matters, get the upcoming dual core intel phones, I read it is 20% faster than the Exynos

Do you find that dust gets trapped inside the case? I'm deciding if I want a case or not, I had a Blackberry and had a plastic case around it and everything I take it off there'd be a HUGE amount dust/dirt? stuck around the edges of the phone....

There is a minimal amount of dust and dirt trapped in the case. Most of the dust just collects in the usb and headphone areas. Otherwise a great case!
