so how much does the GPS app cost as of now? Does it tell you how to avoid tolls, shortest/fastest time etc?

Do you prefer that or google Navigation?

Yup it has all that. Looks like the US only version is $9.99. I honestly only use it if I drive to the states or to places I'm not familiar with which is pretty rare.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ZW1pdW11c2EiXQ..

Looks like it's only $15 now direct from copilot:
CoPilot Live Store | Android

There's literally quite a few different GPS apps for android now. Just check em out in the play store.

thanks for the advises, your meaning of "playin" with them at the play store is to play with them using your s3 right? or does laptop work also?

does co-pilot read out the directions for you and "ring" when you have to turn?

so you are currently using a S3?

Google maps/navigation is the same for all android devices. It's quite user friendly and easy to use.

I used google maps before but if i was to be driving, i would always have to look at the screen to see what my next step is....

Google navigation "speaks" them out for me right ? does it also "ring" when I have to make a turn?

thanks for the reply !! So does google navi also show the arc of the turn like how GPS usually do ?

So i am guessing google navigation uses data then since its not an app right?

Thanks so much, so everytime I want to use Google navi, I go to the google page and find it there or do I download it in advance?

Most likely it'll be installed since it'll have maps preinstalled. Otherwise go to the marketplace and search for maps.

nope, you open Maps and type in your address or name of the place, and a little pin will drop on top of the location on the map:

What you can do next is tap on the pin and an option called "Direction" will pop up:

Then tap "Navigation" at the bottom:

And it will start speaking to you, telling you how to get to your destination. You do need a data plan to use this, it uses very little data though.

Last time I went to surrey from richmond and my 2008 Magellin GPS trolled me so I was 45 mins late to the destination

thanks so much for the pic !

For turns, does it tell how many kms till your next turn or (200m) etc ? Does it also "ring" when its time to turn?

!MiKrofT 04-21-2013 03:01 PM

Every app does things a little bit differently. It's not going to be a 100% mirror of garmin. That being said the common features are all more or less the same. Ie turn notifications, eta, distance till next turn, next street, text to speech, auto rerouting, fastest route, shortest route, etc. Heck you can even get Navigon which is owned by garmin or even tomtom.

Is this Navigon GPS like a new version of Garmin? How much does it cost?

I know of a guy that bought the Tomtom gps app for $80 which is think is really expensive...
