what is this, edmonton?

If Getzlaf AND Perry were still UFA's last summer, I guarantee you MG would dump the Sedins for good ol Canadian boys

Hondaracer 09-12-2013 04:49 PM

It's moreso about making trades than signing FA's in terms of big impact players

someone figure out over the last 10 years how many cups were won from teams who traded/acquired their talent vs developed the talent within the organization or acquired the talent at least 5 years prior

bout 350

dbaz 09-12-2013 05:09 PM

would depend what you consider a developed or traded/acquired team, in fact its too hard to judge due to so many key acquisitions on each team. therefore 350 sounds good

I know it's a bit of a Slowpoke moment for me but holy shit...we face the Hawks, Bruins and Kings all on HNIC. Three of our biggest rivals, the last three winners of the Cup, and they're all at a championship-calibre level. These are going to be the most entertaining games of the season and I think the CBC is going to shatter ratings records. I swear, I would cry if those games were cable-only.

Obviously I mean if they were on TSN or Sportsnet.

Uh... CBC isn't a 'cable' channel.

The term 'cable' means any kind of TV where you have to pay for. This comes from back in the day you could receive TV programming free via antenna from the major networks (NBC, ABC, CBS in US, and CBC in Canada). When somebody had 'cable', it meant they had to pay for it to get cable stations that you pay for requiring a physical 'cable' hookup.

CBC was and currently is accessible for free via antenna, so it is not cable. TSN and SportsNet however, require a paid subscription, hence 'cable.'

spideyv2 09-12-2013 06:08 PM

Honestly, who the fuck uses the term 'cable' to describe PPV television?

SkinnyPupp 09-12-2013 06:16 PM

cable = subscription. The 'cable' itself is an outdated term, as you can get these channels by satellite, but oh well. It's called cable.

network = free over the air. CBC, CTV, etc

As for "who the fuck uses the term 'cable' to describe PPV television?" that would be nobody. PPV is pay per view - pay once, watch it once. Canucks used to do this, not sure if they still do...

jeedee 09-12-2013 06:49 PM

Man who the fuck cares if CBC is on CABLE or not.

If you can watch it on TV, then watch it

If not, then watch it online :fuckthatshit:

I used to watch scrambled Fox so I could go to school the next day and not feel left out when my friends recited lines from the previous night's Simpsons.

I'm with Telus and I have this HD channel that's blacked out, but it says it's reserved for Canucks only. Will it air all the Canucks game there?
