kristianhay 09-23-2013 06:55 PM

Love seeing the Canucks shooting this much, such a breath of fresh air to see them just firing shots on the PP.

punkwax 09-23-2013 07:02 PM

Fuckin' Luongo - there was no force in that collision and he still has to play the Italian soccer player card. Man up. You're a fucking hockey player.

/rant

I feel better now :lawl:

Failing for this. Right in the suspension video, it states that part of the reason for length is because of the injury.

I agree that consistency is lacking in suspensions and rationale, but did you not see Rule 60.6:

60.6 Fines and Suspensions - There are no specified fines or suspensions for high-sticking, however, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion (refer to Rule 28).

In this case, supplementary discipline was applied.

Rule 28 - Supplementary Discipline
28.1 Supplementary Discipline - In addition to the automatic fines and suspensions imposed under these rules, the Commissioner may, at his discretion, investigate any incident that occurs in connection with any Pre-season, Exhibition, League or Playoff game and may assess additional fines and/or suspensions for any offense committed during the course of a game or any aftermath thereof by a player, goalkeeper, Trainer, Manager, Coach or non-playing Club personnel or Club executive, whether or not such offense has been penalized by the Referee.

As for "nowhere in the rules does it state the suspension in any way links to injury sustained by the receiving player or how long they are out for," one of the main criteria for a suspension is if the other player received an injury as a result. Watch the Shanaban video - he says the injury factored into his decision.

I don't agree with how the rules are written, but the Kassian suspension was an easy one for Shanny.

Kessell will get less if anything. No history, no injury sustained. It's a slippery slope, but that's how its been and will continue to be.

I saw that rule, didn't misread any part of it, and the qualifier is "commissioner's discretion". IMO Shanaban's set himself up for failure, because he has a precedent to follow now (or not follow based on previous history)

When that makes the rule book then all is fine and dandy. Until then, it is one man making up the rules and penalizing as he goes along. Ask the players if they know what does and doesn't constitute a suspension. The rules are about clarity and consistency. Shanaban's reign so far has been anything but

Max domi looks good. Should of picked him before horvat.

horvat with a beauty pass.. sestito with the dribbler goal

Not really racist! 09-23-2013 08:15 PM

You know you're running good when it slides under the tender like that lol... and when Sestito scores :lawl:

Domi looks juicy as fuck but Bo will prove to be better in the future.. after all they did play together for two years in London so I'm sure they were scouted/evaluated at the same time to a certain extent. Domi doesn't have as much competition to make his team.. so eh

punkwax 09-23-2013 08:20 PM

Ya, seems like a few people on RS have written Bo off already.. pretty funny how impatient some people are.

You're right. Totally his fault. Let's continue to scrutinize

Domi is a slightly better skater, and is a better play maker, everything else Bo is better at (esp the defensive side Domi will never have)... but we don't need another undersized but skilled player (centre)

If we didn't pick Bo I would have hoped we would take the Russian instead anyways....

Bo is clutch as fuck as well so.....

We can all agree that Shanaban is consistently inconsistent!

In other news, Keith fucking Ballard scored today.

OGCStrike 09-23-2013 08:31 PM

wooooo 6-1 win :D

Not really racist! 09-23-2013 08:32 PM

Ballard will turn out to be a CRAZY bargain at 1.5mil...

cot damn and then everyone gonna go ballistic on CDC

punkwax 09-23-2013 08:36 PM

They say great players make everyone around them better.. Tom Sestito, arguably the biggest plug in Canucks history, scores a goal today after a beauty pass by Horvat; his 2nd of the evening.

I think we have a player here. Sure Hunter has made a bit more of an impression thus far, but I think it might be kinda like the Toews & Kane combination/comparison. Not saying they are the next Toews & Kane, but I think there are similarities in terms of leadership and flashiness, respectively.
