no confidence in buda lol
And the rookie wasn't too bad.

They should let people that already bet on Montreal get some sort of kick back or insurance pay-out lol ... losing Carey Price tilted the odds heavily.

XplicitLuder 05-21-2014 08:11 PM

so you gamble huh ;) :concentrate:

Obsideon 05-21-2014 10:44 PM

No I'm so glad I didn't lol ... but I could just imagine that I would be REALLY pissed if I placed a big wager on MTL before the series started, then their best player gets injured mid-way in Game 1.

What are your thoughts on who will be our no. 1 goalie next season?

-hear all rumours about the Ryan Miller connection with Benning with our new GM responsible for drafting Miller in Buffalo. -other goalies available like Tim Thomas, Jonas Hiller.

Is it gonna be Miller Time in Vancouver? Timbits or Swiss cheese coming here?

It's going to be Eddie Lack.

Miller would mean getting older, not younger. Same goes for everyone else you've listed.

How about neither of them?
I don't see any of them actually being that big of an upgrade (if at all) over our young and cheap goalies.

Cause Budaj sucks like Bryzgalov :troll:

pastarocket 05-22-2014 08:21 AM

Jaroslav Halak is also on the free agent market too.

-many options for the Canucks if they want a veteran goalie as their no. 1.

RiceIntegraRS 05-22-2014 08:22 AM

Lets hope we still have the same goalie coach that turned Schneider into a stud. Markstrom n Lack can really benefit from that

sonick 05-22-2014 09:26 AM

Delorme is (most likely) staying:

Quote:

Everyone was expecting the Benning announcement, so the night’s biggest surprise was Linden’s strong defence of his scouting staff, particularly chief amateur scout Ron Delorme.

He took over his role in 2000, and Linden sure suggested Delorme is about to survive in his position yet again.

In defence of Delorme, Linden took some subtle shots at the previous regime, saying there were communication breakdowns, and Delorme didn’t get enough direction on what type of player fit a vision of what a Canuck should be.

“If you don’t draft well, you have no chance,” Linden said. “In fairness to those (scouts), they picked the Ryan Keslers, the Cory Schneiders and the RJ Umbergers, who never got here, and Michael Grabner.

“They’ve picked some good players.

“Ronnie Delorme is a good man. He’s worked hard. And I think he’s a good scout.

“I’m not willing to throw a good scout out the door when he didn’t have proper direction.”

First time I have ever wanted to punch Linden in the face and hopefully the last...

+1. Lack and markstrom combined make less than what any 1 of those bigger names would make on a UFA deal that would likely also involve a substantial term. The team isn't a big goalie away from winning the cup, no need to make that sort of commitment to any goalie at this point. If anything, maybe bring in a cheap journeyman back up like a Budaj to mentor the kids a bit.

UFO 05-22-2014 09:49 AM

Good draft picks are useless unless you can develop them properly and give them a chance to succeed on the team. Lots of people love to think that we should have picked Nichushkin over Horvat. Well nichushkin would have no Jamie benn or tyler Seguin to play with here, and he would have likely been buried on the 3rd then 4th lines then sent down to the minors...

Delorme has a shitty history, but what's he suppose to say to the media? He can't throw the guy under the bus in public

As for Goalies... Ryan Miller wants to come out west, but there are not many suitors that require his services

Kings are set
Ducks have Andersson and Gibson
Coyotes are set

SJ and Vancouver are his only possible destinations out here..

Sharks have one more year with Niemi... and could move him for Miller, but are the sharks going to retool their team?

Canucks signing Miller would be odd, because it sounds like Miller wants long term. Canucks just got rid of Luongo's gigantic term contract too.

Didn't SJ say that Niemi would be moved? i could see Miller signing there

Buy low on Niemi like how the Canucks got Ehrhoff from SJ? :joy:

highfive 05-22-2014 10:31 AM

I don't think Linden is going to throw Delorme under the bus.

Wait for Benning...see if he wants to can Delorme or not.

Some ppl did say having Eric Crawford has improved our scouting in the past years.

Nabatron 05-22-2014 10:52 AM

Jake Virtanen had shoulder surgery and TL was saying he liked the kid....this recent news of his surgery might effect TL drafting him at 6...Im hoping so cuz I want Leon Draisitil guy looks like a stud big body and can snipe...thoughts?

No Halak for UFA.
