I thought the coach was going to get fined for chirping at the ref, after a penalty. Isn't that what got them the bench minor or was it from waving the flag?

He was surrendering to the refs. The Leafs thought the refs were calling way too many penalties and not letting them play..

AV got a penalty last year for yelling, "That's a penalty!" that cost us a game last year. The referee was so shocked that AV stopped chewing his gum, that he had no choice but to take notice and be offended.

Either way, it was a bullshit penalty especially when you hear how other coaches talk to the officials.

In the Leaf's semi-defense, you can't do anything when the guy on the board sees you coming and turns his back to you after you've committed to plaster him.

Having said that, I don't follow the Leafs and had never thought of them as a dirty team. But the way they played on Saturday, certainly reminded me more of dirty than gritty. They took multiple runs at different guys, some borderline charges, etc etc.

I believe it was a bench minor that was assessed to the team/coach. So I don't think Carlyle got away with it. Had the penalty been for McLaren's towel waving it would have been an unsportsmanlike penalty to him instead of bench minor.

Heatley has really fallen from grace but then again he just came back from shoulder surgery. Cap hit of 7.5 million though and 1 year left.

Even after that accident, hes put up awesome #s ever since. But obviously on a huge decline. Him being injury prone and at that caphit, i wouldnt take him. Hes the Wilds version of David Booth. But i can see him being a rental player if the Wild arent in position to make the playoffs
