I think the term is great. If they want to continue past 37, then they will need to let their on ice performance speak for that.

I like the deal. Both term and money are both really fair.

It's so funny how the opinions differ depending on where you look. Although not many on RS has responded so far, generally it looks like we're good with the deal thinking it's fair.

TSN comments so far have been mostly negative. Majority commenting that it's a horrible deal, great regular season guys but pulls a dissappearing act in the playoffs. Too long a term or too much money.

CDC - I do not dare go there, ever.

TSN is full of trolls from EDM and CGY. would not take those comments seriously.

i'm interested in seeing what SJ will do with Joe and Marleau. roughly same age as sedins and needing to sign deals. curious to see if their deals will be similar or will those guys try to push max value/term.

don't know why he was left unsigned for so long... 600k for malhotra is a steal IMO... teams just cautious about his injury?

Canucks felt like it was unsafe for him to play without 100% of his vision but Manny thought he could still play. Canuck didn't re-sign him for his own safety and he's been FA since. Most teams felt the same and didn't sign him.

^I have not seen Manny play in the AHL so don't kill me if its wrong, but I did creep the Canes blog for people who do and essentially the consensus was that he wasn't even an impact player in the AHL outside of faceoffs so not even sure if he will make the big club since his deal 2 way. I wish him the best though.

With the iron man streak of Hank still intact, you know these guys are durable.

I don't mind the length. The term, well we as fans can't be greedy and expect them to sign for a cheaper rate every time. They've done a lot for the organization and even more in the community.

With the cap (hopefully) going up a fair bit next year, it's not bad at all.

The term favors the team big time cause you'll probably get a 5th and even 6th year if they want for nothing by then

Looking through the list of recent Art Ross trophy winners, none of them make less than 7M other than Martin St. Louis. Heck, even Iginla's making 6M this season.

I mean if you take a look at what other players are getting. I think 7m really sounds pretty fair. Here's the cap hit for a few random players I looked up. Yes, you may argue some are better or younger so that comes into play but I rather not sign the following players to these contracts.

Eric Staal - 8.25
Zach Parise - 7.53
Alexander Semin - 7
Jordan Staal - 6

That Parise contract is just putrid ... 13 more years and the guy has been a 60-something point guy over the last few years :badpokerface:

An article even mentioned just how good their fitness is as well. Tortorella was making them do 2 mile runs under 12 minutes - and other than Santorelli, the Sedins were the only ones on the team who were able to do that.

man 7m each for a guy whos has 8 pts in 2 playoff series, and a guy with 5 pts in 2 playoff series
