if your definition of a #1 dman is a player in the top 30 for that position, or just the best defense on a team, then its different from mine. a #1 dman is an elite defense man, a franchise dman. think what weber, chara, lidstrom, bourque, niedermayer, pronger bring/have brought. we have many of what would be considered #2/3 dmen, good offensively/defensively, but not down right dominating.

The point is..
