Their contracts are similar... and you'd figure Erat can't possibly be any worse than Booth.

At least if Erat gets traded, he'll probably be motivated to play just to make a statement to the Capitals.

Yeah, he and Oates don't really get along. Erat likes to play RW despite being a left-handed player and Oates wants lefties on the left wing and righties on the right wing at even-strength.

If Gillis is able to get Erat and unload Booth's salary, George McPhee would have to be drunk to do that trade. -nice trade scenario. -doubt that it will happen.

thing is Erat even if we assume he isn't on the steep decline his stats say and hes just been a poor fit with Caps, he doesn't seem to be what is missing for the nucks either. He is a borderline 20 goal scorer through out his career and I doubt at 32 this trends upward. Canucks are already filled with these guys imo so I don't see the whole point of this unless by some miracle Caps actually take Booth and like a low pick..

Yep totally possible (though not going to happen).

Here's a playtime scenario:

Buy out Booth. Send a salary the Jets way (likely less than 5.25, and likely a D man which is what the Jets need imo) in a Kane trade. Bring up Corrado.

What about the "optics" of this kind of player like Kane coming into a team where he makes more money than Kesler? 5.25 million salary vs. Kesler's 5.0 million.

-not sure about other NHL teams but the Canucks have their pecking order of salaries pretty well defined. Sedins 7.0 million, Luongo 6 million, then Kesler at 5.0 million.

-would it be a concern in the locker room that Kesler gets butt hurt over Kane getting paid more than him if Evander became a Canuck?
