Did anyone hear about Doug MacLean saying on Team1040 that he heard about an imminent Canucks trade ? |
Burrows with a hand sprain in the final game against TO after the scuffle with Kessel. I guess that's what happens when you pull hair....should be healed up when the break ends (as per Elliott Pap) Torts spotted in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BgpKKY7CAAAnBxM.jpg |

MG has made moves every trade deadline. I don't see why this year would be any different, especially since we're currently in a position to select in the top 10 :okay: |

We have the technology. Spoiler! |
The mule is way past his prime and injury prone. Mantha is a gifted offensive player, with size. If Detroit is willing to give up Mantha the trade looks good. Otherwise, no deal if only Franzen is available. |

Franzen is near retirement due to injuries. So we're giving up a 40+ point all-star dman in his prime locked up long term and a 3rd line winger who is in his prime locked up long term for a shitty long-term contract, a promising junior player, and a 1st or a 2nd? /never armchair again |
If we trade Kesler I'm done with the nucks, srs this time Posted via RS Mobile |

That said, if we're to believe MG it would mean that RK17 would've had to come to MG asking for a trade, and not the other way around. |

Franzen is an injury prone player with a terrible contract, a la David Booth Good luck, Ted |

only one i can think of was what when canucks acquired Roy. and it wasnt significant parts given for him |
only threw the Mule in because hes been rumored to be the piece MUST go (as a cap dump) if we were to trade Edler to them but yes, I do agree with the above comments about how the ship has sailed with him, anybody who thinks he would be the center piece of such deal = full potato we saw what Mantha was capable of in the world JR and he's absolutely ripping it up Q, huge upside, underrated sniper (50G) Pacioretty/Neal/Vanek type |

inb4 Mantha pans out to be a Vanek inb4 no one is surprised because Canucks drafting is fucking terrible |

lol ppl ITT are like a bunch of wolves once one person doesn't a suggestion, everyone else jumps in but seriously next time I'll provide explanation of why in the initial post so people's jimmies don't get rustled quickly at least with Franzen you get someone who shows up in the playoffs, his salary goes down each year after next year, cap hit is better than Booth's @4M, great goal scorer when healthy, and no cap penalty if he retires early, no NTC but yes, injury-prone and streaky at times, sometimes lazy, aging so its not as TERRIBLE as some suggest, but worth the risk cause Mantha is gonna be a beast, quote me on it DET also has Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, Jurco up for grabs if the deal is right |

The next year, he traded for Kassian for CoHo (the one exception where picks weren't given for the targeted player, and target wasn't a rental). That same year, he got Pahlsson at the deadline for a prospect. Last year would've been the Roy trade you mentioned. There are your MG deadline deals. For a potential Detroit deal- wouldn't it be something if Kesler wanted to go back home and become the number 1/2 center there, packaged with Edler for a bunch of Detroit's younger players? That'd qualify as quite the splash that Doug MacLean was alluding to in his cryptic comment. Read: I'm not suggesting it's going to happen, or that it's an actual trade idea. I have no reason to believe that MG will move NTCs especially as he said he would never ask a player to move. I'm just speculating that there's a fit there with Detroit's centers on the backside of their career arcs and the Canucks' need for youthful skill. No need to roast me lol |
this thread would be better if people weren't afraid of posting their opinions... probably due to the condescending attitudes and hatred, that has built up over the years, all the trolling, and bullying, shitting on ppl for what they think (perhaps why a lot of regulars dont even bother anymore coupled with disappointment of what has transpired the past 3 seasons) ^to answer the question trading Edler and Kesler to the same team wouldn't be smart because you wanna maximize your value, which you can with multiple teams, I guess it also depends what kinda mentality the FO has too, straight up rebuild or like an on-the-go etc. NTC/NMC is just a whole clusterfuck Gillis has to deal with, total head scratcher |
obv its lalongo guys. mg clearly asked team canada not to play him after shutout due to fear of injury Posted via RS Mobile |
