No NHL action cause of the Olympic break means nothing to talk about

let's talk about the Russia vs USA shootout! Some sweet moves by Kovie & Oshie. It reminded me of the shootout when Toews & Johnson was going at it during the WJC!

it was Oshie Vs Datsyuk and Kovalchuk

there's nothing to talk about in here because we're all enjoying this nice break away from some terrible canucks hockey as of late lol

even the Sweden vs Latvia game was wildly more entertaining than the crap we've seen in the last month

I've always liked Oshie and his stock just went way up in my books considering the pressure he was under.

Even the two where he got stopped, It was mostly because of desperation saves with the stick. Very similar to Toews in the World Juniors.

He was always grinning, it looked like he thrived under that pressure and was loving it.

It was just lethal how good his quick release is

Good way to put a Nexus pass to good use. Doesn't hurt to see the Eastern teams come by for way cheaper than a Canucks ticket.

I'd buy season tickets for it. Make a weekend out of the games on Fri and Sat, and sell the rest.

How does expansions work in terms of players?
Does the team have to rely only on UFAs?
If thats the case, they will likely have to overpay to get a mediocre team at best.

But yea a seattle team should bring down ticket prices for Canucks.

The way it has worked in the past was each team could protect a number of eligible players and the rest were avaliable to the expansion team(s).

Eligible players included any players who have played at least 2 years of NHL hockey (min. 25 games/season)

Each team could protect:
9 forwards, 5 defensemen, and 1 goaltender
or
7 forwards, 3 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders

The team would also get the #2 draft pick in the draft prior to their first year.
