I hope we keep tanking for the rest of the season. Squeaking into the playoffs would only mask some of the huge issues we have here. It's not until losing starts effecting things like playoff revenue and ticket sales going forward that anything productive will be done.

Zack Kassian has yet to emerge as the consistent presence required of a top-six guy and, outside of a solid campaign from Chris Higgins (16 goals), not many Canucks have stepped up to fill the void.

It seems unlikely the Canucks will go the rental route to find a solution. The team’s had little success with that over the last two years — Sammy Pahlsson and Derek Roy made minimal impacts (granted, both were centers) — and this hardly looks like a team ready to make a playoff run. As such, it’s possible Gillis could look to the farm for help at forward. Former first-round pick Nicklas Jensen has been playing well for AHL Utica lately, and could be on his way up to the big team.

“The most noticeable thing is his pace has picked up,” Gillis said of Jensen. “We’d like to leave him there (Utica) but our needs are important.”

No disrespect but they could've traded the twins to a contender and resign them in the offseason to rebuild. If the Blues landed the twins, it would put them over the top... with pieces like tarasenko, berglund, schwartz, rattie coming back

As said before. Gillis is in a position to sell to Kesler that the cancucks can win. If not. He's gtfo outta here. Whether its a trade for something or he gone with nothing next season

Sedin's, Kesler, Hamhius, Tanev, and Lack should be untouchables. Everyone else should be available to be traded to help find "real" top 6 forwards for the Sedin's for the next 5 years until they retire.

Kesler needs someone who can make a play with him on his line. Someone like Evander Kane, Kyle Turris, or David Perron.
