I suppose that comment could be taken two ways. The way I understand it is that Torts needs to understand everyone's strengths and then adapt his strategies to suit their abilities/style of play.

I don't think it meant, "Torts better adapt to how we want to play the game."

The tail doesn't wag the dog. If the players think they're going to run things, they're in for a hell of a rude awakening with Torts in the dressing room.

Canucks' Tortorella promises to improve media relationship

the highest rated comment for the article is:

"Immediately Torts becomes the toughest guy on the team."

This is basically what everyone else outside of vancouver thinks of the canucks.. .. we're soft.

Just watched the Q&A with Torts and I agree the new girl replacing Kristin Reid for Canucks media is TERRIBLE... Not only her demeanor but the questions she asked were just pointless.

Good for Kristen for her new position at Sportsnet, she deserved it she was great on CanucksTV.

I know, I was being facetious with the quote.. on its own it looks pretty scary but we get what he's saying.

Here's the rest of it from the TSN article

"(He's) an intense guy and very detailed and wants his players to play hard," said Kesler. "That's what I like about him. He's going to hold us accountable. And if we're not, we're not going to play."

But Kesler suggested Tortorella will not necessarily coach the same way that he has in the past.

"He's going to adapt once he figures us out," said Kesler.

adapting in a manner that will be effective with this group.

"Immediately Torts becomes the toughest guy on the team." :hat:

shot blocking just shows how much you want to win games. Game 6 chicago had almost 3-4x as much compare to Boston

lol, don't take the quote out of context.
That's the media's job to stir up something out of nothing.

I know that's why I put the smiley face, then said I was being facetious when someone brought it up. Play along man :)

When Lu's captaincy was given away, Lu performed better almost immediately being able to focus more on his game.

I expect that with a greater leadership presence in the room via Torts, the Sedins and the rest of the core may also see some lightening of their distractions and be able to concentrate on their game. I see the Sedins' blessing of Torts as them saying that they are a bit tired of the way the leadership was happening internally within the players themselves. AV wasn't about to set that straight, so now they have somebody that can and will, and can get them all playing together again. It doesn't mean they aren't leaders anymore though, they just needed something different to rally everybody together. "You know what to do" only works so many times

Mike Oxbig 06-26-2013 11:17 AM

Torts gonna make shit happen

Kesler back to Selke form
Sedins to Art ross race
Edler as Norris candidate
Luongo as Vezina candidate
Booth into 30 goal scorer
everybody on the bottom 6 to collapse to block shots or they're not playing
:troll:

Kesler will never be 2011 Kesler again.guaranteed
Sedins are on their way down
Edler is overrated . He's was draft in the late rounds for a reason
Luongo ain't coming back
Booth ain't coming back

I say we tank the season and take drouin

Tank the season that has already past to draft Drouin (that is in THIS YEAR'S DREFT)? K, let me get that time machine working again.

Although Edler is overrated.. Letang, Yandle and Visnovsky were drafted around the same position as Edler. Draft position doesn't mean much, Patrick White anyone?

hotshot1 06-26-2013 12:07 PM

Edler was a steal in that draft. If we re-do it knowing what we know now, he'd go in the top 10.

originalhypa 06-26-2013 12:16 PM

Torts!!!!!
That's awesome news, especially after hearing his first series of interviews.

On a side note, this is what happens when you lose the Stanley Cup in 6 games.

Poor Chara.

The look on his face is sadder than sad Keanu Reeves.

murd0c 06-26-2013 12:21 PM

so why is Chara on the ride?

Sid Vicious 06-26-2013 12:47 PM

so what exactly is the rationale/logic behind each team being limited to 2 buyouts per year? seems to me like an arbitrary restriction

trancehead 06-26-2013 01:13 PM

LOL chara

and sid: iirc, its only 2 buyouts within these 2 years i think. just to tone done the effect of the new CBA cap

i dont think its 2 buyouts per year

From the look on his face, I'd say he's pretty sad. He's not even enjoying his ride on the Rowdy Rooster. I wonder what happened to make him so sad?

lol!

He took his kids there after the game 6 loss. If you think about it, he would have been playing the final game, but instead he was at the park with the family. He was actually spotted at "Canobie Lake Park", which is a couple hours away from Boston.

So hilarious.

I agree.

Edler has all the qualities to be a great defenseman. Rick Bowness said it before, he has the size, skill, skating ability, and concept of being great. He just needs to wake the fuck up to play.

Remember last season after he signed the extension, he scored like 2 goals in the first game and 8 points in 10 games?

Hopefully Torts is there and wakes him up.

trancehead 06-26-2013 01:27 PM

re chara: (yes i know the quality sucks :[ )
