pirellis sottozeros

also ran conti winter Contact but not as grippy as sottozeros but those sottozeros didn't last 2 seasons lol

The price increase starts today, I believe it's for all tire dealers. The jump is huge.

For example, I checked yesterday for 215/55/17 Michelin X Ice Snows on black circles, it was in the low 800s for a set, now it's about $934 shipped taxes in with coupon code

I bought my set last year for $710 and got an additional $70 in Canadian tire money

No name winter tires are fantastic and 1/3 the cost. Last year I got my Sailun ice blazers or wtv, they were like $115 or something and I was extremely happy with em. Who cares if I get one less season out of them

CorneringArtist 09-01-2021 08:04 AM

West Lake winter tires worked fine on my RWD Verossa, but I went all out on my GTI with the Vikingcontact 7s. Let's see if we actually get snow this time.

How are Sailun tires in general any way? :suspicious:

320icar 09-01-2021 09:19 AM

I run their winters and their 180 treadwear track tire. I have nothing but great things to say, even before factoring the price. Im not sponsored but anyone who’s been to autox or track with me have seen me suggesting them.

Sure im probably leaving a second or two on the table for track days but consumables are expensive. $148 a tire versus $379 a tire for re71r in the same size. No brainer for me

bcrdukes 09-01-2021 09:27 AM

Huh interesting. Will consider that for the Mini. Thanks for that!

Sailun ice blazer, 225/40r18 ordered from 1010tires for ~$115 each. Studdable if you want. They were pretty damn quiet (though I’m used to sticky tires), rolled smooth, deep tread and were readily available. No ice racing last year so couldn’t test, but I didn’t have a seconds hesitation on doing a middle of winter duffy loop run

Sailun atrezzo R01 265/35r18 ordered from PMC tire for ~$148 each. Wide, sticky, cheap. Grip stayed consistent throughout back to back area 27 days. They didn’t seem to get heat soaked and greasy, unlike my firehawks that could only do 2-3 laps a session before giving out. So far 2 track days, 3 autox and daily driving, and they still look great.

If only those Sailun summer tires came in 235/35/19 :okay:

underscore 09-01-2021 10:30 AM

That Ice Blazer looks a lot like the Hankook iPike W419, which work really well. Prior to that though I had some different Hankook iPikes that looked completely different and were complete crap. It really seems like brand alone doesn't mean much, you need to look at the feedback on a specific tire to know if it's any good or not.

roastpuff 09-01-2021 10:47 AM

The summer Sailuns look like Yokohama AD08s lol. And like pointed out the winters look like the Hankook iPikes.

bcrdukes 09-01-2021 11:40 AM

Wow, never underestimate a Chinese tire. (sometimes)

December? Why don't you put them on when temps consistently drop below 7C like everyone else? It'll save save you so much time! You could be listing and delisting your property and wasting everyone else's time, or complaining about realtors who do the same.

He'll have new wheels by then.
