Maybe what we need is an Asian GM. We'll definitely get the best return on any trade :lol

Man...this trade deadline is going to be fun to watch..

That's pretty much what he confirmed to the media earlier today. He was asked why he didn't trade Shink for a D prospect since we're thin in that area and he said that there wasn't any available. He said Granlund was "the best player available"

That last part really bugs the shit out of me. It seems like he wasn't making a trade to stock up on a position of weakness, but instead, he just did the trade so he could get rid of Shink and ended up settling for Granlund.

b0unce. [?] 02-22-2016 05:09 PM

^Fuck that shit bugs me so much hearing that. Why even trade if the return isn't "fair". Just keep what ya got.

68style 02-22-2016 05:14 PM

Does he have a clause in his contract that he has to make a certain number of trades per quarter or something??? Fuck that rationale is irritating!!!!

SumAznGuy 02-22-2016 05:22 PM

TSN1040 mentioned that starting next season, Granlund needs to go through waivers to go down to Utica. That basically means him, Vey, Baertschi have NHL spots tied up for next season or risk losing them for nothing to send them down to the minors.

Granlund is also an RFA at the end of this season

murd0c 02-22-2016 06:04 PM

Lets just hope Granlund is going to be part of a bigger deal...

22nd - Montreal Canadiens - 61 pts - top 3 odds - 16.1% / 1st overall - 5%
23rd - Arizona Coyotes - 60 pts - top 3 odds - 19.1% / 1st overall- 6%
24th - Vancouver Canucks - 58 pts - top 3 odds - 20.6% / 1st overall - 6.5%
25th - Calgary Flames - 55 pts - top 3 odds - 23.5% / 1st overall - 7.5%
26th - Buffalo Sabres - 55 pts - top 3 odds - 29% / 1st overall - 9%

Don't think vey will be back either they trade him now or in the summer time! But I can't see them resigning him!

nah 02-22-2016 07:30 PM

Bring out the paper bags...

Rookie Owners
Rookie President
Rookie GM
Idiot Asst GM
Rookie NHL Coach

It hurts being a fan at the moment. Just think 5 seasons ago, we were up 3-2 in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Durrann 02-22-2016 07:40 PM

^^ you forgot rookie NHL coach

Vey was on waivers and nobody took him

man reading that list 1-22 really makes me sad.... I'd welcome Mike Gillis back with open arms right about now

also to be fair, Shink IS a little overrated... for all we know he could be the next Nick Jensen, and to look on the bright side Granlund has a higher PPG in the AHL than Shink anyway

He's too busy being a prof at UVic

nah 02-22-2016 08:25 PM

Seasoned management personnel aren't going to want to work here with meddling owners, only rookies.

Star players aren't going to want to play here for a puppet management team.

punkwax 02-22-2016 08:36 PM

Gillis and AV were the best things to happen to this organization in a long time and a lot of people here wanted them gone.

Happy now?

Mike Oxbig 02-22-2016 08:47 PM

Whats going to happen to the Canucks fan base if Shinkaruk becomes as good as filip forsberg like the Erat trade

Nabatron 02-22-2016 09:49 PM

They/we will be pretty fucking pissed off...not rocket science right there!

UFO 02-22-2016 09:58 PM

Pretty hopeful that a 'renowned talent assessor' in jb would be able to recognize a player with that potential. And also the fact that 28 other teams weren't willing to return more what the flames did.

Or maybe my hope is misguided

highfive 02-22-2016 10:09 PM

I just don't get that after all these years, our scouting staff didn't go through a rebuild themselves.

Like c'mon! Who were the pro scouts that recommended Ballard, Booth, Rome, Glass, Ebbett, Sturm, etc...

To now recommending players like Vey, Prust, and Bartowski?

RRxtar 02-22-2016 10:24 PM

Can any of you guys see the bigger picture?

You guys all had AV and GMMG's heads on sticks for years leading up to their firing's and were fucking excited like little girls when they were, and even more excited when GMJB was hired because he was a great scout and came from a great organization. 2 years in, and you hate him now too. AV clearly wasn't a bad coach, seeing as hes continued the same success in NY.

you all hated GMMG for not making deals happen, even tho it was clear that Aquaman was meddling at that time, and it was hinted at after. now you all hate GMJB for not making deals AND hate Aquaman and half of you swear that Aquaman is forcing the team to the playoffs for 2 games worth of revenue. has that actually been shown anywhere or is it just e-gossiping? Aquaman is a terrificly successful business man and holds onto properties for long term investments. do you think hes short sighted enough to think 2 playoff game's worth of revenue when fan support is falling is worth more than a quick rebuild and have a contender that fans love? I bet shitty team ticket/merch sales + 2 play off game revenue is alot less than fan supported team sales + 2 (or 0, or lots) play off game revenue.

you all couldn't wait to trade Lu for a bag of pucks, now miss him dearly.

in training camp you guys were loving Bart for coming in and playing his way onto the team. half a season in, and that experiment didn't work, and you're all hating on JB for signing him in the first place.
