RE: Granlund

Quote:

Pros:

- Decent skater
- Hard Shot
- Decent Hockey IQ
- Done well in the minors
- Good defensive awareness
- good utility player, won't look bad/too out of place on almost any line

Cons:

- needs to bulk up, gets knocked off the puck easily
- doesn't utilize his shot enough
- this one is more on the Flames, but they used him almost exclusively at center and he's not big/strong enough to compete well in that role.
- usually does well during his first few games after a callup, then goes quiet.
- reminds you a lot of Linden Vey

great, another Linden fucking Vey.
just what this franchise needs.
let's get another Bartkowski while were at it...trade Gaunce for the shittiest dman in the Flames system

Jmac 02-22-2016 02:25 PM

Granlund has a career faceoff % of 40.3% in 86 NHL games. We couldn't at least get a centre who's good at faceoffs?

Subban to the Flames for Kanzig

Canucks acquired Granlund for Shinkurik

Our intention is to try and be competitive every night, and try to make the playoffs." -- Benning.

It's over. We're fucked.[/quote]

I knew it! Aquaman is meddling with all hockey related decisions for this franchise. That idiot probably told Dim Jim to make any trades to help this team get into the playoffs even at the expense of trading away our best prospects.

Damn Aquaman only cares about how much money he can make from this team.

He and Dim Jim are ruining this franchise!

Jmac 02-22-2016 02:40 PM

Assemble RS Beatdown crew?

Hondaracer 02-22-2016 02:46 PM

The team is already in a rebuild. Obviously one of the two is going to get moved

Ch28 02-22-2016 02:46 PM

Just hit them where it hurts the most and avoid purchasing any Canucks merch or tickets. If we're not sellers by the deadline and acquire some good picks/prospects then expect there to be a huge exodus of STHs. Us "regular" fans aren't paying to watch this shit, so how do you think STHs that spend thousands of dollars would feel?

Ch28 02-22-2016 02:50 PM

Acquire player to play wing
PLAYER NOT COMFORTABLE ON WING

Ch28 02-22-2016 02:54 PM

Hamhuis to DAL for J. Benn (only to realize it's Jordie)

RS also needs to boycott Pizza Hut franchises because Aquaman owns many of these franchises in the Lower Mainland. Hurt this bumbling billionaire by not ordering pizza from Pizza Hut.

There's a reason why Pizza Hut is mentioned as a sponsor on Canucks.com.

I mean, seriously, I don't like that greasy crap pizza from Pizza Hut at all.
:troll:

highfive 02-22-2016 03:11 PM

To hurt aquilini, I believe you have to do the following:

-Stop buying his berries.
-Stop eating Pizza Hut.
-Stop eating at any Toptable restaurants.
-Don't rent any of his east side apartments.

Am I missing anything else? They own a whole lot in Vancouver. lol

TjAlmeida 02-22-2016 03:24 PM

Benning need's to stop looking for older band aid prospects. I can respect the gamble maybe once or twice, but this i think is about the 5th time? To early to tell if Shinkaruk can produce at the NHL level, but he seemed to deserve at least another year in the AHL with a couple NHL call ups. I am sure a year or two down the road he could still garner a return like Granlund.

Seems like a shit trade on paper, but maybe there was more going on behind the scenes.

We are pretty thick on center propects, although guess its not a bad thing. Horvat, Mccan, Cassels, Granlund. Also with Sutter at a reasonable age, even though he seems injury prone in Canucks colours.

Harvey Specter 02-22-2016 03:30 PM

What makes me worried is this could be the beginning of more god awful trades and signings to come from this guy.

they've been happening since the day he was hired :lawl:

Jmac 02-22-2016 04:23 PM

Somehow that god awful Garrison trade looks relatively good in comparison to the trades he's made this season.

highfive 02-22-2016 04:28 PM

The problem I see is that the reason they traded Shinkauruk is because there is no spot for him. Baerstchi, Rodin, Gaunce is in the way. But what I don't get is that why didn't he trade for a position where we are weak in such as defence.

Man...this trade deadline is going to be fun to watch..

pastarocket 02-22-2016 04:36 PM

If Dim Jim pulls a rabbit out of a hat and makes trades on February 29th to actually rebuild this team for a good future, I will be shocked.

-not holding my breath right now for those trades to happen. :lawl:

Bouncing Bettys 02-22-2016 04:38 PM

It's been a good day. Maybe old Lou will give JB a call.

Jmac 02-22-2016 04:42 PM

Here is the problem with that logic:

You have 1 player who only just became a full-time NHLer this year, another player who hasn't been able to crack an NHL roster, and another player who already failed to make it at the league Hunter is currently excelling in. None of those guys are sure bets going forward; at face value, only Baertschi is a better bet than Shinkaruk.

Shinkaruk has 2 years left on his ELC and has been progressing well. Why trade him? Especially when you're heading into a rebuild. It just doesn't make sense.

Maybe he'll send Horvat, Hutton, and Tanev home for your buy-low prospects, too.

Bouncing Bettys 02-22-2016 04:52 PM

^Since you guys like centers, Bozak could be had for a pick/prospect or two and an expiring contract.

Hondaracer 02-22-2016 04:53 PM

i really feel that JB doesnt have any expecations in some of these deals then pulls the trigger when he thinks he's getting a deal

JB to calgary: "I've got shinkurek available, what are you guys willing to give?

Calgary: hmm.. i dont know, we can start with Granlund

JB: Done!

Calgary: oh, ok, thanks Jim
