Alas, here I am today at 38........ :okay:

Shinkaruk is STILL the leading scorer for the Comets despite being traded 5 weeks ago ... And is it any surprise that the Comets have tanked almost as hard as the Canucks since that trade? He was literally the only offensively-gifted forward we had down there ... at age 21 ... with 2 years left on his ELC ...

That trade was awful at the time it was made and it's even worse 5 weeks later as now it looks like we'll miss the playoffs in the AHL now, too.

I liked Shinkaruk. He should have been given more of a chance. But he was a Gillis pick, so Benning did not care.
Playing 14 games for the Stockton Heat in the AHL after the trade, he has 5 goals and 5 assists. So it seems like he is getting more and more consistent.

Anyways, the Canucks management is a mess as they seem to have no direction. Do a proper rebuild please, not just a "re-tool". Granlund and Larsen? Pile up draft picks like what the Leafs are doing. Canucks have hit rock bottom like the season before the Sedins were drafted.

not sure where all this hate for Sbisa is coming from

he's played really well for us this year when healthy and if he improves as much as he did last off-season he could easily slot into a top 4 role on a decent team

with Tanev/Sbisa/Hutton/Tryamkin I'd say our D is pretty stable and young, even if we are missing that one stud puck-moving goal-scoring powerplay-running defenceman

dbaz 03-29-2016 01:15 AM

yea im sure its looked like he has played a lot better. but that's probably because theres been lots of injuries to our d that's actually good, 3 rookie d in hutton/tryamkin/pedan getting playing time, and the revolving door of shit in bartowski/biega/weber/fedun

hes overpaid, while constantly hurting the team. hes better off being bought out and having a similar player in tryamkin, who is 4 years younger take his place at a lower cap hit. This then allows us to spend more on ufa's upfront so our young forwards can play lots of minutes in the AHL. because sitting them out for 30-40 games and giving them 5-12min ice time when they do play, is stupid as fuck

Shinkaruk with his first NHL point tonight in his first game with the Flames.

You can see Shinkaruk's slick footwork again while entering the offensive zone. That can fool some opposing players making them think if he will pass or not. That's what I liked about him. His NHL preseason goals with the Canucks showcased his good footwork as well.

He was one of my favourite Canuck prospects. Damn why did Canucks management get rid of him? He is much more valuable than Vey. This is so frustrating.

I have no problem trading away hunter especially with baerstchi around. I just don't know why it was for granlund. Couldn't we get a better player in return?

68style 03-29-2016 08:04 AM

He would not have succeeded with the Canucks, buried on the 4th line with Dorsett as a winger. He will get a chance in Calgary to play decent minutes with good offensive players.

Those -4 pointer games next month against Edmonton is going to be HUGE. Unfortunately, we don't have the driver seat cause Toronto still needs 3 more pts before we can overtake them.

Expresso 03-29-2016 01:52 PM

All these tank standing stats is tripping me out. Now games in hand are bad, overtaking means having more losses.

highfive 03-29-2016 01:54 PM

Remaining Games

Vancouver - 67 points

SJS
SJS
ANA
LAK
EDM
CGY
EDM

Edmonton - 67 Points
CGY
VAN
VAN

Toronto - 65 Points

FLA
BUF
DET
FLA
CBJ
PHI
NJD

Lets not look at Toronto because we can't control that. If we lose the last 2 games to the oilers and say they lose to Calgary, they finish the season with 71 points.

We basically have to win 2 games out of the 5 to to tie them in the standings (actually below since we have less wins).

That means we have to get 2 wins from SJS/SJS/ANA/LAK/CGY.

6o4__boi 03-29-2016 02:03 PM

fucking edmonton...those cunts should be banned from getting top 3 picks for the next decade

Nabatron 03-29-2016 03:37 PM

^thats why when the GM's had or have their meetings they should implement a rule stating that no team can have the first overall in a certain amount of years...ie only can have the first overall once in a 5 year span!

also i cant see van winnning against sj,ana,la, those would be another 4 losses, would have to come down to the last 3 games of the season to determine last in the league! We have a good chance of finishing dead last if everything goes to plan....

Don't know how to post from twitter but...

Apparently the league had to hold Bennings and Lindens hand during the Corrado waiver process.

spoon.ek9 03-29-2016 04:59 PM
