Got my Sennheiser's today they match the physical description above of the legit ones. Beautiful sound profile even though they're not broken in, hear so many things I never even heard before in songs I regularly listen to! Sound leakage to people around you is horrid as noted in the reviews though :p

Are you using a headphone amp? Otherwise, that's the next thing that'll take your listening to the next level.

I don't know why reviews are complaining about the sound leakage. These are open-back headphones, and they're supposed to be like that.

68style 12-02-2015 11:06 AM

No amp just straight up into the iphone6 jack and whatever quality level Rdio (rip) uses... Yah I don't see what the big deal is either I guess people just assume that over ear headphones offer them privacy or something? lol

double0seven 12-02-2015 01:35 PM

Whats a good suggestion for an amp?

The Fiio E10k seems like it's pretty well recommended to go along with the 598s in particular. https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/...or_sennheiser/

Bad score also affect the seller's buy box and their SEO so there are incentives for sellers to provide adequate services.

They are very data driven. Do they care about you solely, probably not. But big picture? Absolutely.

Some of the problems are on Amazons end, not the sellers, yet they still don't give a shit. I don't really mind that they screwed something up, I'm just annoyed that they don't care to fix it so someone else doesn't get screwed.

HonestTea 12-02-2015 02:27 PM

Amazon is usually pretty good to me and their customer service is amazing most of the time.

m3thods 12-02-2015 02:36 PM

I've had excellent customer service from Amazon for a 3rd-party seller transaction (Wasabi Batteries).

That said, I don't think they're bound to anything that's not sold and shipped out by Amazon LLC. It seems very much ymmv.

StylinRed 12-02-2015 02:47 PM

i rarely buy from 3rd party sellers on amazon, if i do, they're based in japan, and i've never had any problems from those transactions, even then i look through the seller ratings and read all/most of the negative reviews, if any, before deciding on buying from them

Sorry, gone now

I've always wondered about people that use amps. Do you carry that thing around with you? And there's a cable running from the phone to the amp and then another for the headphones?

Isn't that a lot of shit to put in your pants?

Presto 12-04-2015 01:19 PM

Portable amps can be quite small. It is a bit more bulk to carry around, but if you are serious about sound, you won't mind giving up the pocket real estate. There are compact, in-line amps that will do a decent job, as well.

68style 12-04-2015 01:40 PM

Personally I don't think I would bring "listening" headphones with me anywhere... purely for at-home leisure use.

For those who got the sennheisers and had authentication issues

I went through with contacting Sennheiser about them and they only just sent this email back

How much were PS4 bundles going for around Black Friday? Trying to get an idea for what the deals come Boxing Day will be (I assume they'll be close if not the same)...

Kaolinite 12-15-2015 03:04 PM

Superstore has the Uncharted bundle for 369.99 until Dec24th

I'm just curious. I know there are lots of "portable" amps too. It just seems inconvenient to carry so I was hoping to that someone that does bring an amp with them could tell me why they think it's worth the extra bulk in their pockets.

Dragon-88 12-15-2015 05:02 PM

Some audiophiles are just really into their music, so it does make a big difference. Its like why do people buy those sennheisers when any pair of headphone does the same. Its the quality of sound they're looking for. I dont understand why people wear such large over the ear headphones when regular size headphones are just fine for travel. Its just personal preference.

ilovebacon 12-15-2015 07:51 PM

probably same reason you buy expensive cam gear (dslrs that are $$) over a regular point n shoot :)

MG1 12-15-2015 10:12 PM

Only way to find out is by auditioning one.

Unless you have a tin ear or crappy sound source to begin with............

I'm sure there are plenty of people who just get stuff to boast - having the best and be all snobby about it, but there are plenty of people who really appreciate great sound reproduction.

At my age, hearing loss is one of life's curses (cruel is more like it). Having said that, I know what good sound reproduction should sound like.

Mr.Money 12-15-2015 11:05 PM

some people are okay ripping music from youtube :fuckthatshit: and some look out the .flac uncompressed sound...

and people tend to follow trends...remember when you seen everyone in metrotown with Beats by dre :fuckthatshit:

StylinRed 12-15-2015 11:19 PM

certain headphones dont see an appreciable benefit from external amps/dacs, some may even perform poorly with one, some may perform horribly without one, etc etc

you'll have to go in-depth into headphone nerdom to find out whats what

as for the Senn 598's supposedly they're rather sensitive and don't need to be pushed so people only recommend the entry/weaker amps/dacs for them (from what i've read only)

To 99% of people, appearing to listen to high quality sound is all that matters. Look at all the shit Bose sells.
