Just heard on the radio, solterra clearance, up to $15000 off + as good as 0.49% financing if you are existing Subaru owner? Sounds like dealers are starting to get desperate. How the turns have tabled :accepted: |
Top model lists for $64k :fuckthatshit: Assuming that's the one to qualify for the $15k discount, even when we factor in the $9k gov rebates, we are still looking at roughly $40+tax. (I know gov rebates are really subtracted after taxes.) :fuckthatshit: |
The discount might be decent on a lower-trim Solterra. On the upper end, a lightly-used RZ mid-trim for $64k seems like a better deal with more power and a nicer interior (if you're looking for something from Toyota/Lexus/Subaru in the first place). |

https://www.docksteadersubaru.ca/en So the $15,000 off is based off of $5000 federal rebate, $4000 provincial rebate, $5000 manufacturer rebate, $1000 dealer credit. |
With gas price expected to be going up to $2.30/litre this summer, i'm sure there will be a lot of people looking at EV's again. |
Hmm... so it sounds like the $57k base model should still qualify for the $15k discount then. So my back of napkin math is: $57k - $5k Subie rebate - $1k dealer credit = $51k $51k + 12% tax = $57k $57k - $9k gov rebate = $48k and that still wouldn't be a price I'm willing to pay for a Solterra. |

The iX is not special or rare or flying off the shelves, so it seems bizarre to deny you a test drive even with your attire. The iX drives pretty great IMO - definitely visit another dealer to have a go at it. Park Shore's pretty chill from experience. |

Still odd, a BMW is a BMW |
I will still stand by my statement. EV only makes sense if you really daily it for min 50km per day, that's roughly 146000km for 8 yrs of ownership which is tesla's battery warranty period. That vancoucer sun article says the longer you keep the ev, the more saving, sure that's true, but who's dumb enough to keep a out of warranty ev, it's just a ticking time bomb |
Fixed, but who's dumb enough to keep a out of warranty BMW, it's just a ticking time bomb |
Even a BMW engine repair post warranty won't cost as much as a EV full battery replacement. ICE engine complete repair/swap is a worst case scenario vs EV mandatory battery replacement once it's faulty Tesla pricing is getting very very attractive now for ppl with long daily commutes, I just can't see myself or at least 50% of the owners owning it after the 8 yrs mark |
Clearly should've worn the Kirkland hoodie and sweats to show off that you're wealthy enough. |
We did ended up getting a test drive of the iX elsewhere. I couldn't say we loved it but it was definitely better than a Tesla. The price though was challenging. As a pretext, we are casually looking for a slightly bigger family car than the X3, and it only makes sense since we are upgrading to look into alternative fuel options and to save the PST on a used vehicle. We are pretty sure we'll want some kind of hybrid or EV drivetrain, the question really boils down to what and when. Autowest was where we were denied a test drive, and the sales there gave us the wrong info anyways. We asked about range of the 3 iX models (40,50,M60) and he told us it was all the same except HP. When we got a test drive of the iX, we were asked which one we wanted to try. Given the info that they were all the same we thought we were ok with the 40 since it would give us the lowest price of entry. We were then advised correctly that it has a shorter range and ideally we should be test driving the 50 instead. So 50 it was. I did some light research actually on the vehicle and know we probably want a 2023 or newer since the 2022 lost some features due to chip shortage. The actual drive was was nice and despite BMW getting rid of all the buttons the experience wasn't terrible. Of course I would like my climate controls to be real buttons and BMW makes it take an extra action or two to get to things, but at least it was intuitive, and coming from a family of a Mini and two BMWs the learning curve wasn't too bad. Admittedly the Tesla wasn't terrible in this aspect either so it wasn't a win in either way, though I've yet to drive a stalkless Tesla and I feel I would hate that. The cabin of the iX was actually quite well designed and I would personally say it's a huge breath of fresh air in interior design compared to what a traditional ICE vehicle is. It was very airy, and the little extra space that was open between the center console and dashboard made it feel more spacious than it actually is. I didn't love the seats as they were more like a bench than the buckets I'm used to. The trunk though was a disappointment. It's got an odd protruding space into where the hatch is and the load floor is extremely high. Given that the battery was supposed to be in the floor of the vehicle I found that design compromise plus not getting a frunk very disappointing. The power was good but not 516hp rated good. Something about it weighing 6800lbs probably says something about that. Compared to the Audi eTron I test drove awhile back, this is better in almost every way except for exterior styling. The etron looks very sleek whereas my wife's first impression of the iX was "why does it look like a minivan?" At 120k + 20% tax with some options new, I would not pay for a new one. It's nice but I would save about 20k buying an X5 ICE new. $20k + tax buys a lot of gas. The one we tested was $110k. There was a $90k preowned one which would check most of our boxes. With the forecast of the EV market crashing in the next 8-12 months I am waiting for that to happen and hopefully pick one up for $70k if it gets there. Our alternative for an upgrade would be a X5 PHEV which right now is going for 80-90k used, also PST exempt. And realistically I would prefer the X5 PHEV over the iX. But damn if the X5 cabin looked outdated after driving the iX. |
Should have brought Badhobz with you. They would have kissed your feet and bring on the VIP treatment. #KirklandGang |
