^which one is donk?

The whole "beating the system" schtick is cringey as hell. But I know exactly the kind of person they're aiming for with that garbage and it'll probably work on them.

Dodge’s first twin turbo engine. What could possible go wrong.

Was driving by BMW today and I had a bit of time to kill so we hopped in to take a look at the iX. I still think it's ugly, but on paper it's the best fit EV for us and I really wanted a closer look.

The interior is great. Bummer about the hardmounted piece of glass for the sunroof ala Tesla. I prefer a traditional opening roof. I wanted a test drive but was told no. I was dressed poorly (hoodie, sweats, superstars) and I looked like I was 25.

I've test driven the original etron before and the drivetrain and packaging was a disappointment.

Going to see if I can go find a iX test drive somewhere.

The current Subaru Forester still feels like a fish bowl, especially with the pano roof. Only a matter of time till they introduce a PHEV Forester.

Slighty used iX 40i with the premium package seems like the best value IMO, no PST and extended warranty.

Because they’re using the same roads?

So you go to a restaurant and your buddy orders 6 shots and a munch of food for himself and you just order a beer and an appy you should both pay the same amount because you are both at the same restaurant?

If you are going to tax evs they should be taxed on usage or damage. A f250 is doing a lot more damage to the road than a Tesla model 3.

More damage in what way? A Model 3 weighs almost as much as my F150. It makes sense EVs should be taxed for using the roads, bicycles as well.

I mean...

Honda's been making J series for decades, what could go wrong ... other than a massive recall for rod bearings in 2024

Toyota's made reliable engines for years, what could go wrong ... other than the LS500 and Tundra blowing turbos and bottom ends

JDMDreams 03-06-2024 08:58 AM

Just saw a highland looks very Asian:lawl:

Actually you are wrong, the weight is up there, and the problem with EVs is the instant torque they put down and a lot of EV owners use that. The extremely high tire wear EVs experience would tell you a lot on how much damage they do.

Nah... it's always about weight. If torque were actually the main issue, they'd have dyno stations along the highway instead of weight stations.

At a commercial property that we had, we had people doing donuts/burning tires all the time during the odd hours when the parking lot was empty. But the pavement never had an issue. In the 7yrs of ownership, we have not touched there other than once we were getting the whole parking resurfaced and coated.

The loading bay area, OTOH, requires almost yearly work due to the constant heavy weight that they endure.

Dang Rivian unveiled the R2 and R3!

radeonboy 03-07-2024 01:25 PM

^Pretty excited for the R2 as an electric 4Runner-sized alternative. The R3 is pretty neat as well - it gave me Integrale vibes when they revealed it.

But revealing this many models at once gave me a small feeling of desperation given their financial situation - it's unusual for automakers to announce multiple new models at once since the media attention gets spread out.

Looks like Rivian's also pausing their Georgia plant for now, which makes sense if it frees up cash flow for the R2.

The R3X looks pretty sweet.

Then slap the front/rear Rivian lights/logo on...

underscore 03-08-2024 07:36 AM

It reminds me a lot more of this

For modern cars I think it's a lot closer to the IONIQ 5 than the Honda.

roastpuff 03-08-2024 10:41 AM

That R2 looks pretty nice. Let's hope pricing is good.

NACS. RIVIAN can use the tesla charging stations.

68style 03-08-2024 11:11 AM

See I talk a lot of shit about electrics and made that troll post, but I would definitely consider a R3 as a car for my gf as her main car and our errand-mobile in the future if the company survives. Checks a lot of boxes for her.
