Seems like a good deal for what you're getting - standard brembos, torque vectoring rear diff, dual chamber active air suspension, etc. But rampant software / electronics issues seem to continue and it's been out a while. | Ha. I like how they describe it as an "alternative cash offer".
Beauty of a car, too bad about the software though - seems so bad that I'd stay away till they fix it but $75k-ish sounds like a great deal.

For example: the Acura MDX is $70k... and that's supposed to be the benchmark for a value bargain. A BMW iX starts at $95k, and I thought wow there's some terrible EV early-adopter tax on that... until I realized that a plain, same-size base model X5 is... $95k?! And a Lexus RX450h+ is $91k!
And get this... a Tesla Model Y is now $90k!!
The market has colluded to bring us to the conclusion, that $75k is a screaming deal for a Polestar 3 lol.

Yah, I'm still in the range of $50K (all in ), decent all around new car is a great deal. Like a Golf R but those are north of $60K. .. $75K WTF happened? Am I sleeping beauty of something? Did I fall asleep and wake up 15 yrs later or something?

$55000 MSRP for a type r but dealers be playing games. Honestly I think a used golf r in the $2_____ is a good buy for all around daily. No point of paying inflated new prices + dealer games. You can't tell me a new one is twice as good. For more than double the money.

The hell is the world coming to . | As a result used cars are still stupid too. A few years back I considered buying a 4th gen Rav4 and with decent mileage they were about 15k. Fast forward a few years and now people are asking 15k for a 3rd gen with 200k
I was considering getting a cheap daily since neither of my vehicles really work as dailies but anything vaguely fun is $10k+ which is a lot for an older beater. People want like 10k for Fit, 15k for a 350Z, etc.

Yah, no ... if used Tesla Model 3, I'm looking at < $25K ... even lower $20's.
Or if used Tesla ... I'm going Model S with free unlimited supercharging like this one for $20K - https://www.facebook.com/share/1L8oNe8XXB/ |

The old school Tesla unlimited supercharging is awesome. It's totally unlimited for the life of the vehicle. There's no gimmick or fine prints. You can do whatever the heck you want. The newer unlimited supercharging usually has some clause with a soft cap in it.
I remember a friend of a friend got 3 of those in Toronto and made a killing hiring indian dudes driving Uber for him 24/7

Throughout my career, I have seen all sort of ways to make money. And there are only things one has never thought about, but not any way that could make money and no one is doing it.
Besides, the drivers were paid their fair wages and worked exactly 8hrs a day, even with break and meal paid for. Is it really skimming?
My friend was asking me whether or not I wanted to invest into it since it was working so well, like getting as many Tesla with the old unlimited supercharging as we can and drive them to the ground. But I decided against it because it only took someone to badmouth the whole thing and get that unlimited thing limited in one way or the other.

ywsh that’s one play - but expensive lease and slow charging means it’s not rly a problem
Compare to:
1) $300 EQE OR $500 EQS loaner
2) unlimited mile warranty in loaner than the dealer pure thru CPO
3) unlimited 2 year charging
4) charges 2X faster on average

Why wouldn't those Indian dudes just work for Uber themselves? How does your friend "hire" them to drive Uber? Illegally I assume?

Maybe they didn't have the initial $25-30K to buy a car? Recent immigrant but 'born to drive'.

4) charges 2X faster on average | Nah, they were buying used Tesla Model S/X to drive it to the ground. They drove 24/7. So, racking up 500-800km a day was normal if not a slow day. Your plan would never work because Benz didn't have anything, and even if there was, there'd be fineprints that you cannot use it for commercial activities or there's a limit how much mileage you can put on. And there was nowhere near enough chargers for Benz (remember, this was a few years ago, before even V3 Tesla SC) and certainly nothing over 50kw on the CCS side, at least not common enough.
Tesla noticed this and put softcap in place from 2017 onward. Only those who had it before grandfathered the true unlimited charging and is fully transferable (well, it was tied to the car VIN)

Good luck if you have an EV that's damaged or non drive able on the Island or any of the ferry only access islands.
Transport Canada change forces BC Ferries to prohibit damaged EVs
BC Ferries says that due to changes by Transport Canada, electric, hybrid and alternative energy vehicles are prohibited from charging up onboard vessels and on its properties.
Vehicles with minor or cosmetic damage that isn’t affecting wiring or the battery will be allowed at the discretion of the vessel master, so long as they are driven under their own power.
Vehicles with major damage including exposed batteries, fluid leaks or wiring issues won’t be allowed on board. That also includes vehicles that are placed on flat-bed trucks such as tow trucks.
BC Ferries does say full-sized commercial car carriers transporting operable and undamaged used or new vehicles to dealerships will be permitted.

I think it's the firefighting issue with the batteries - the foams etc are effective against petroleum fires... but lithium battery fire is another matter entirely.

EV fires are difficult to deal with, especially if you don't have the right equipment and skill sets to handle them. This is the reason why EVs are not allowed at my home track, CTMP. The nearest fire station equipped to handle EV fires is at least 45 - 60 minutes away, assuming they aren't dealing with another EV-related fire. Quote:

wait wait wait wait wait....
business opportunity? there has to be broken EVs that needs to be towed from the island.... how much is a barge to carrry such vehicle, whats the fuel cost to go round trip (cuz I assume there aren't much demand to tow broken EVs from the mainland to the island) so the island one-way trip will need to cover both direction operational costs....
