I was surprised too but I think it was Linden who thought Gulz was a really good coach. He worked well with the younger players.

*edit, didn't see the sven post :okay:

bobbinka 06-17-2016 05:48 PM

benning on TSN:

-wants to sign a 20-30 goal scorer
-wants to sign a 2-way player
-not looking to move the 5th overall pick
-says there are 6 players he'd be satisfied with picking at 5, including a top pair dman
-was asked if he would do right by the player (re buyout rumors), said he intends to do right by the organization and it will be a hard day if/when it comes to buying out Burr :(

Hoping for okposo before going to eriksson or lucic.

Obsideon 06-17-2016 08:03 PM

I wonder what the chances of Lucic really are...

Now that speed game seems to be in fashion, wonder what JB feels about our team size esp on the back end. At least the next gm will be able to take everything apart and say the way to win is speed, skill, small size; until a big heavy team wins the cup next

Eriksson and lucic both bring more to the table than okoposo..

Attempting to emulate another team's success doesn't work often. The game is so structured now that teams can quickly create a counter-strategy. It really seams like a crapshoot, as long as you have a good core.

highfive 06-18-2016 12:15 AM

You still need a big enough team to get out of the west. Sharks just stopped playing big and fast by the time they started the Stanley cup finals. They were on such a roll against la, nashcille, and stl.

EuterVanWasser 06-18-2016 07:21 AM

^^ This. Yeah, Pitts beat San Jose with speed, but to me that was just one series (although rather convincing). I'd not deviate away from size and grit too soon.

duck re-sign vatanen for 4 years. lebrun says 4years 19.5mil

murray said they are trying to extend Andersen. also that ducks will be trying to acquire a top end lw, and acquire a lot picks to re-stock prospects. fowler and Gibson could be gone

Gh0stRider 06-18-2016 10:53 AM

Datsyuk :(

Strombo being replaced by Maclean on HNIC.
more canuck rants incoming

supposedly lots of changes coming after the draft due to the drop in viewers

Bouncing Bettys 06-19-2016 04:07 PM

Good news. Rogers has really damaged the HNIC brand.

cdizzle_996 06-19-2016 04:56 PM

I'm glad Stombo's going. McLean is a good choice, however I think Elliot Freidman would be best..

Until they fire Glen Healy it's already been considered a damaged brand

Elliotte is definitely the best on HNIC, but I don't know if he has the personality to be a host.

Ch28 06-19-2016 06:26 PM

A panel with Duthie hosting it with Bob Mac, Freidman, and Dreger would be the best.

I agree, he's pretty docile.. But he's a walking hockey encyclopedia

Leafs acquire Frederik Andersen from Anaheim - Sportsnet.ca

Leafs acquire Anderson from Anaheim for a 1st rounder (30th) in 2016 and a 2nd rounder in 2017. Thoughts? They needed stability in goal. This finally might be it. Big price to pay since they are going through a youth movement.
