Looking forward to another year of Sedins calling out the kids playing with no heart. Much rather they get traded to a winning team than end their careers like this. |
Wasn't this promoting thing out earlier? That's why people were speculating that McCann would be traded? |
cap set at 73mil for next year |
re: Malkin Chris Nichols on Twitter: "McKenzie: "No. Malkin is not being traded. It's not even being talked about. But those rumors get out there." #Pens #Blackhawks" |

People questioned him after his leg injury but he came back strong the very next season to complete it with 40+ goals and a stanley cup final run. The guy can score goals in a league where they are becoming harder to come by. I don't think his game has changed THAT much. Hes always been a pure goal scorer and power play specialist. As far as money goes, hes worth more than 9mil. I think whoever signs him it will be for 11-12mil |

Hell Crosby makes 8.7.. I know that contract was signed a long time ago but it's still a good measuring stick IMO. |

Pretty mind boggling rumour, even more so that Chicago of all places are in the mix. Why is the question Re: stamkos at 12m, what if the contract is only say 3-4yrs? Even 4yrs at 12m is better than 7yrs at 8 or 9m. I get players want stability and all that, but really with a higher salary I think players are OK taking less term. And for a young team in transition that has cap space to burn before their kids make the big money, could be a viable option and also be a good 'investment' for these developing kids |

That's kinda what i was thinking. Maybe i was a bit too generous with the 12mil evaluation. I dunno, i feel like big name UFA's always get these ridiculous contracts. Somebody is bound to overpay for Stamkos. |
A chance to sign a guy in free agency of his skill level and his age almost never happens. We're talking about one of the elite players of the game who is in his prime. Is it worth an extra 3 million dollars a year to sign a player like that where it doesn't cost you any assets only cash? If you have the cap room I think you have look at it at least. |
The reason most Tampa fans seem to want to let Stamkos walk is the likely 10+ mil cap hit it will take to sign him given his one dimensional play the last couple years, they seem to view getting the new core resigned more as a priority, they need to resign Kucherov and Killorn & Namestnikov this off season in addition to Stamkos, and also look at extending Johnson, Hedman, Palat & Drouin, whos deals are up next year, all should be due for significant raises especially Hedman, Kucherov and Johnson and most Lightning fans seem to rather have Hedman, Kucherov, Johnson, Palat & Drouin core kept together. As a Sabres fan, my concern would be a long term deal with a 10+ mil cap hit and in a couple of years needing to extend Eichel & Reinhart to big deals, while already having O'Reilly and Risto locked up long term on big deals too. I honestly can't say I would rather have Stamkos over any of Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly or Risto. Its an easy call for me Eichel/Risto over Stamkos, and both O'Reilly & Reinhart while not as prolific as Stamkos in goal scoring, I feel offer better all around games in the mold/style of Bergeron/Toews, while still being able to contribute 20-30 goals a piece and likely coming in a 3-4 mil less cap hit long term. |
Goligoski signs with the Yotes at 5 year $5.5AAV I wonder if Dim Jim can at least get a pick for Hammer's rights...for a shitty team it boggles my mind that we have basically just pick 5 and 64 to add to the pool. |
highly doubt he gets a pick for hammer. hes publicly said he wants to stay here. last time when there was a good chance he was only thinking about vancouver, two teams wasted picks acquiring his rights and got nothing from it. if benning can hes a lot better than most of you will admit blues re-sign upshall for 900k |
Be afraid Canuck fans, be very afraid. I get a feeling Benning will overpay Lucic for long term. |
:ohgodwhy: inb4 Benning trades 64th pick to Kings and offers Lucic a 7 year $49M contract :fuckthatshit: |
Don't need to. Lombardi emailed all 29 teams they are free to talk to lucic camp. If we're able to somehow swap burrows/Higgins cap hit for lucic, I'd be ok with that. |
say no to the big bad ex-Bruin |

Scary story Canucks style *gathers round a campfire* ...So Benning signs Lucic to a 7 year $49M contract...and then...HE ADDS A FULL NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE FOR THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT Spoiler! |
Apparently Kings max term offer was 4 years and Lucic is seeking 7 years. Whoever signs him to a 7 year deal will regret it, his style of game and play won't age well and with the expected cap hit, that will be an albatross of a contract in about 3 years. |
Dim Jim had better stay away from Lucic. There's no way you give this player a 7 year long term contract. |
the only time i'd sign Lucic to a 7 year contract is if he'll take an AAV of $3.5M/year anything more is retarded considering he'll be useless halfway through that 7 years. |
For our sake, I hope Edmonton picks him up. |
YES! get him canucks!!! 7x7!!! |
With how the league is moving back towards skilled forwards with speed, Lucic is a gamble. Max I would offer him is 16 million over 4 years. The type of player he is, he will begin to slow down and lose productivity once he hits 30. |
