If cops can't protect us then who can? This is exactly the reason why people in the US want to be armed in the first place. Like hchang said, he's not going to risk his life protecting other families but damn well will protect his own. Cops are human too so they gonna feel the same, can't rely on them. So don't take the guns away, or else forget about protecting anyone even your own family. You might as well just pray to God and hope the shooters have mercy on you.
Like I can't believe people don't actually see the issue. There are actually gun control laws in place but law enforcement did not act on it. Apparently threatening people is not reason enough to issue a court order. This kid already hurt people but yet the cops did nothing. They had 30+ chances. How can we trust law enforcement.

hearing armed cops were at the school hiding out just pisses me off to hear.
they basically stood still in fear shitting their pants knowing people were getting killed due to so many loud bangs.
yet if it was a war vet he wouldn't have gave a shit and went to check it out smartly.
just tells me some of these police officers can be pricks giving out tickets and abusing power but when real shit happens like this the tough guy act is turning into a scared little lap dog,What happen to Remembering BASIC TRAINING????

I remember when Columbine happened, the cops were criticized for not doing anything since they waited for SWAT to come and clear the building instead of patrol officers.
Since then they used a tactic which was every time 4 cops arrive on an active shooting scene, they would form a team and search and neutralize the threat.
Maybe that cop was waiting for 3 more officers to search but I could be wrong; at least go inside and pinpoint where the shots are coming from.

It may seem like I'm trying to place ALL the blame on the cops. I'm not. TBH, I've got nothing but admiration for what they do as a whole.
My real gripe is how painfully obvious it was the media had their agenda. Their was next to no publicity for all the red flags before this happened, and the officers handling during. But their was huge publicity run by the media for a push towards gun control/bans of certain weapons.
That's what pisses me off. The blind eye bullshit

This is why nothing changes. Because there are logical arguments to both sides. Combine that with the fact that firearms have been around for a hundred years, and millions are currently in circulation, and that poor horse isn't catching any breaks.

Mental health issues, you say? Quote: Nikolas Cruz, the man accused of gunning down 17 former teachers and classmates, was a ticking time bomb who emitted so many warning signs family, friends and classmates remain baffled and devastated authorities didn’t prevent the Valentine’s Day massacre.
The litany of trauma the alleged school shooter suffered and perpetrated prior to producing mass bloodshed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida should have provoked authorities to keep a closer eye on the disturbed 19-year-old.
The Orlando Sun-Sentinel reports Cruz’s troubled life began at the age of five, when he watched his adopted father die at his feet. From there, things spiraled out of control over the next decade:
**According to the Sun-Sentinel, after watching his father die of a heart attack, Cruz approached his mom in another room. “Nikolas came down the hallway and he went to his room, and he was crying,” Lynda Cruz said, adding she asked if Roger Cruz, 67, had punished their son. “Nope. Daddy’s dead,” Cruz reportedly replied.
**As a child, Cruz was diagnosed with a long list of disorders, including depression, ADHD, autism and OCD, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He took medications.
**Cruz was mercilessly bullied due to his size – 5-foot-7, 120 pounds – by his brother and brother’s friends.
**As a teen, Cruz was accused of beating his mother with a plastic hose. Additionally, cops were called to Cruz’s home four years ago after he allegedly threw his mother against a wall for confiscating his gaming system.
**In 2016, Cruz was accused of posting ominous threats to Instagram, including one that reportedly said he planned to shoot up a school. That tip was forwarded to the school resource officer, according to multiple reports.
**There are unconfirmed reports that Cruz attempted to kill himself by drinking gasoline last year, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Authorities were made aware of Cruz’s suicidal behaviour, which included cutting himself that same week.
**A female student says she once saw Cruz holding a dead bird near his crotch in class. “That was disturbing,” she told the Sun-Sentinel. “But I just looked away because it wasn’t my business.”
**Cruz was accused of holding a gun to his mother’s head before she passed away of pneumonia late last year. According to multiple reports, he also held a gun to his brother’s head. Accused school shooter Nikolas Cruz watched father die: Report | Vancouver Sun | |

Just saw the stupidest interview on CNN. it was with Michael Williams a politician from Georgia. He claimed Delta Airlines gave discounts to members of planned parenthood. The CNN host said it was not true. He said it was true because he read it on Google. So I guess everything you read on the internet is true.
Will post when CNN posts the video.

Has anyone else seen the security camera video of the idiot mother and daughter who had a robber pull a gun on them in their store? It was on the news last night or the night before. The level of ineptness shown by the mother and daughter are exactly why the US needs SOME level of mandatory firearms training.

Not really. When the guy left the first time they should have just locked the door. Looks like the guy took around $100. The amount of damage they caused is more then $100 and they almost died.

As the suspect, Tyrone Lee, was leaving, Ring’s daughter, Ashley Lee, reached for a gun and handed it to her mom.
Then she reached for her own and simultaneously tried to trip a security system that was supposed to lock the suspect between the inner and outer exit doors.
Ring took some shots at Tyrone Lee as he was leaving, but the security mechanism failed to lock the door closest to them. Ring took several more shots, hitting the suspect as he ran deeper into the store. While the two wrestle over her gun, Ashley Lee took shots at the suspect, hitting him several times.
| I'd assume she probably shot at him because she thought he'd be locked in.
Tulsa consistently ranks in the top ten of most dangerous cities in the US. They probably get robbed (or attempted) at least every other month. There's not much to deter these thugs if you don't do something about it yourself.
Personally, I give them credit for having the tits to defend their business.

Instead of just letting the guy walk out with a few bucks, or trapping him with the doors properly, the daughter nearly shot her mother multiple times. Maybe I'm not understanding the long game here but I think shooting the person you're trying to help is a shitty way to defend yourself.
