Lemme simplify it for you in terms you can understand:
Guy shooting children=bad guy with gun
Guy shooting at guy shooting children=good guy with gun
Guy holding gun hiding=useless guy with gun
All guys with guns. See the difference?

A guy with a gun who listens to every gunshot, knowing each represents a possible execution of a child, and does nothing, is not a good guy with a gun.
That's a useless guy with a gun.
Your argument is minimized to the gun being the figurehead, like usual.
It's not the gun. It's the person behind it.
You realize that the security guard is still a person too right?
He's probably just there hoping to get paid like so many other people in the world - a solid $13/hour to hold a gun and walk around. He was probably scared shitless too, like so many other undertrained and incompetent law enforcement.
Maybe it would have been easier for him to shoot at a black guy though, who knows.
edit: No guns for the guy who shot everyone up, no guns for the security guard, no guns for the Vegas shooter or the sandy hook shooter, and all of this pointless circular discussion would have never happened.

You realize he was a trained deputy of the Broward county police department? Not a "security guard". Just like the other three deputies who twiddled their thumbs.
He resigned in disgrace the day after because he didn't follow protocol.

I wonder if, all the while grandstanding at the Town Hall, sheriff Israel knew that four officers from his department waited outside the school while children were being killed.
If it's not my wife, kids or parents in there I ain't risking my own life to protect another mans family.
My job is replaceable, even if I don't find another job on par with current one at least I still have my life and the opportunity to continue my responsibilities as a man to provide and protect my family.

If it was a normal person, then totally understandable, but cops? If cops had that mentality, then what do we need them for? Their mandate is strictly to serve and protect. They didn't do that. They know right from the beginning there are risks with the job. If you can't handle that, maybe you shouldn't be a cop. Just saying.

Cops are humans too. They bleed, cry, hurt and smile just like you and I.
Job tells you to do one thing, human instincts will overpower all training.
If you weren’t prepared to step in to at least engage a shooter, you had no business wearing the uniform, pathetic honestly.
In the US a lot of the cops are straight out of high school. In Florida cops make 47k to 53k a year. You should watch the show 19-2. Unlike most cop show it really shows how cops act.
Oh I don’t dispute the poor hiring practices, but I compare it to joining the armed forces. The second your name goes down on that paper you’re accepting the fact that bodily harm could potentially occur and that’s the risk you’re taking in your endeavor.
The fact that some sack of shit deputy who was charged with protecting the children couldn’t even draw his weapon when the time came only highlights the issues. if you were placed in that position, you kinda just have to accept that’s your day and go with it. It’s one thing to defend a mall or a bank and get shot, you were badged fucking lawn enforcement protecting children at a school and you cowered.

He took the place of someone who could have done the job. Many of those kids might have been alive today if he weren't just waiting for his pension.
And I get it. There are cops out there who shouldn't be cops. But to make the argument that this represents "a good guy with a gun" is completely delusional.
And yes, I realize that you weren't making that argument.
If anything, the irresponsibility of law enforcement, at all levels, involved in this case is what makes citizens want to arm themselves.
Comments like "they're human too" doesn't help that. Accountability is one of the cornerstones to a functional society. And unfortunately that concept has been gradually degrading.

And you going to risk your life for 80K? Also whats a hand gun with maybe 1o rounds going to do against a AR 15 with 30 plus rounds. There also could be multiple shooters. Remember there where 2 shooters at Columbine and a good guy with a gun. The good guy did nothing.

Welfare believes that if the teachers were armed, it would have made all the difference. This guy lives in a different universe.
Imagine if all the teachers were carrying on them. You don't think teachers, or even other sheriff's/security guards don't have bad days? A few bad punk ass students could use a lesson occasionally right? Maybe scare them with a gun to their temple to shut them up.
Maybe the teachers hate their lives making shit salaries all the time and want to go out murder suicide style. Can you imagine that?
Four armed, trained officers sat outside listening to these kids being killed.
The media decides an all out war against the NRA and gun rights is the appropriate response.
How fucking logical does that sound?
For shit sake, it's no wonder these people have trust issues.

What's to stop them from doing that now?

How about the guy, Anthony Borges, who got shot using his body as a human shield to protect his classmates?
He wasn't armed and got paid nothing

Most crimes are a crime of opportunity. Lots of people aren’t going to mug you for your wallet, but they will gladly take a wallet they see left on a bust stop bench. So since you like extremes, we could always say a teacher might want to snap, and just scream and yell instead of going m, getting a license, buying a gun, planning ahead etc. If you armed every teacher then it would be right there. Just sayin’

When did I agree with arming teachers?
And who the hell said "arm every teacher"?
I'm just saying a teacher who "hates their life making shit salary wanting to go out murder suicide style" could do it if they wanted. There's not much stopping them.
The same way a teacher in Canada could.

And the cops there, who were armed and paid to serve and protect didn't.
It's funny to see lefties defend cops when they don't do their jobs, but rake them over the coals when they do.

I am sure you would run into a building where you hear shoots coming from and a gun is going to do nothing if the guy is wearing armor.
So you think these cops did a good job? The job they should have done?

That's the whole point. You never know how a person is going to react when shit goes down. That's why it's better to stop the shooting before it happens. Just because a person at a shooting has a gun does not mean the person will be able to stop the shooter.
