Traum 11-09-2025 08:00 PM

Rumours are floating around that defectors among the Dems are relenting on the shutdown.

W-T-F are these fxxkers doing?! Where dafuq are the party whips (in the Dems)? and WTF are they doing bcos they sure ain't whipping their members to stay within party lines! Polls are suggesting that a larger majority of the voters are blaming Trump for the shutdown, and the Dems are voluntarily throwing in the towel at this point?! :fulloffuck:

JDMDreams 11-09-2025 09:12 PM

Not sure if real but apparently they are trying to pass some bill that allows President to run 3 terms as long as it wasn't consecutive

whitev70r 11-09-2025 09:33 PM

^ can't Trump just sign an executive order to make it so?

The constitution says no.

Quote:

The Twenty-second Amendment (Amendment XXII) to the United States Constitution limits the number of times a person can be elected to the office of President of the United States to twice, and sets additional eligibility conditions for presidents who succeed to the unexpired terms of their predecessors.
Quote:

Section 1

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section 2

This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

That’s been gone for a while though.

Gumby 11-10-2025 12:10 AM

Since when did the rules apply to Trump?

SkinnyPupp 11-10-2025 02:42 AM

They got him to address the fans at the Commanders game today, and he got drowned out by boos. So you can barely hear that when he read the speech or whatever, he read out "I, and say your name" instead of just saying his name. Absolutely fucking braindead, like all the dumb cunts who supported him, including some of you here in this thread.

And yes it's important to call out the people did supported Trump, knowing full well what would happen. I'll do it over and over. Keep lurking though!

RevYouUp 11-10-2025 08:54 AM

What happened though? I would say I'm middle class, I don't see any major affects to any of my family members or friends around me. Bums will always be bums, people bad with money will always be bad with money. We live in Canada and you live in HK, we still have clown Sim as our mayor.

Other than people being mad all the time and making hating Trump their whole personality, I don't see much changes up here than people not going down to America as much to shop as Trader Joes lmao. My personal believe is change starts within your community first, if you want change start helping the people around you and not shit 1000s of miles away that you cannot control. BTW there's no sound in your video. I watched some other clips and there's about 50/50 booing and clapping

68style 11-10-2025 09:00 AM

Guy is telling people to swear an oath to the same constitution and laws he violates on a daily basis.

Not our fight, but if you think it doesn’t affect us that’s crazy talk dude!

SIM needs to go tho, you got that right… take Danielle Smith with him (not same level but I digress)

We (Calgary) just elected a new mayor too, after the lowest voter turn out in decades took me 1.5-2hrs to vote cuz Danielle forced election workers to manually fill out a form with every voters name and address on carbon copy in pen with ID check.

Oh yah and the new mayor is both bisexual AND a hardline right winger. Figure that mental battle out :lol. Just barely beat (600 votes) some extreme right winger lady who’s entire platform was hiring 1500 more Calgary police officers to lock down the city :lol

I mention this because they’re all copying Trump and it’s very much affecting shit here.

Nothing to do with your situation, but a funny relational one to it. I have an acquaintance who is hardcore vegan, but somehow a Charlie Kirk supporter at the same time. I would have never thought there's a Venn diagram where those two things intersect just like the new Calgary mayor.

Traum 11-10-2025 10:18 AM

Dude, have you been hiding under a rock for the past 10+ months?

Are you not seeing how the ridiculous tariffs have jacked up prices big time while the (economic) uncertainty tanked the world economy even further than what was already happening? I was at Superstore recently, and a stupid can of Heinz beans was something like $2.25. I'm pretty sure when Biden was still president, the darn thing was only selling for $0.99, and I'd think $1.25 was expensive. Yogurt is easily in the $3.50 - $4 per 650g tub now, when it used to be in the $2 - $2.50 range.

In BC, our lumber industry is hurting big time. Just bcos I don't know anyone who works in that industry doesn't mean it isn't happening.

And then there is Onterrible. Their auto, steel & aluminum industries are also hurting big time, with people getting fired / furloughed. Manufacturers have been swallowing the tariffs for thus far, but that is also causing them to lose money, which is obviously not something that can be sustained long term. And you just know prices for new cars are going to get even more expensive.

Or maybe you would say Trump is doing us a favour, bcos Nanimo got a few more doctors and nurses from the US? or that our Canadian beer, wine, and liquor industry received a big boost bcos we're boycotting US alcohol?

Badhobz 11-10-2025 10:34 AM

yes, as Traum says, just go look at the prices. Utterly ridiculous.

Even if we aren't tariffing directly foreign countries, we piggyback off of US purchases and prices. Multinational companies that used to import say 90% into the States, would buy the 10% of canadian products at their volume pricing. Now that they are tariffed, our 10% goods will also reflect this increase even if canada didnt directly tariff the country in question.

We dont have enough of a market in canada to dictate volume prices like the US does. So we are totally at the whim of what the idiot down south buys or not buys.

if you work in the building industry or any business that deals with importing/exporting then you will understand. look at our auto industry, forestry, metals...
100 mile house just closed their mill that staffed a huge percentage of the residents there.
just because your close circle doesn't work in these industries doesn't mean nothing is happening out there.

MarkyMark 11-10-2025 11:26 AM

As someone that used to work in the forestry industry, our own government fucked over sawmills long before Trump came into play. They can spin that however they want but BC has been trying to phase out sawmills for decades. Maybe allowing raw log exports and stumpage fees high enough that you can't make money processing lumber here wasn't a great idea if you cared about anyone in that industry.

Trump though!

mikemhg 11-10-2025 11:35 AM

Democrats are such fucking losers man, at least in the Senate.

How do you go from winning so big last Tuesday to absolutely throwing that win away over the weekend.

What was the point of the lockdown for 40 days to simply capitulate without any concessions? Now it's easy to make it look like the Democrats were to blame for the shutdown, they literally gained nothing as a result.

Fetterman was one of the 9 senators to cave in, among the others were those who are either retiring, or not running again next election.

Complete disgrace of a party.

Badhobz 11-10-2025 11:36 AM

my buddy works on that weyerhaeuser mill on annacis island, im pretty sure hes shitting bricks everyday as the writing seems to be already on the wall. I dont see why weyerhaeuser would produce products here in canada to only get them taxed as majority of their stuff goes to the states.

I dont think they can sustain the mill based on exports alone.

JDMDreams 11-10-2025 11:45 AM

Did you see the videos that no one was wearing their red hats when they waited in line at the food bank:joy:

yray 11-10-2025 11:46 AM

nah, trussjoist is gonna be fine.

1.40 exchange rates pays for the tariffs :troll:

MarkyMark 11-10-2025 11:46 AM

Its a terrible industry to be in, a couple good years followed by the market going to shit, layoffs, wondering if you're going to have a job every month. Rinse and repeat.

Cutting down trees isn't exactly a sexy industry to be in, no one cares for it until a small town shuts down because it was the only reason people were there in the first place.

JDMDreams 11-10-2025 07:15 PM

50y mortgages, 15y car loans, $2000 cheques, let's go baby

Insane and to do it on Veterans day, just wow. I think it's safe to say the Jihadists won. I bet they’ll use this picture for the next 100 years to mock America.

Quote:

President Donald Trump celebrated his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa on Monday, calling it “an honor” to meet with the former al-Qaeda jihadist who fought against American troops in Iraq.

Prior to this, al-Sharaa fought as a jihadist in several designated terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and the Al-Nusra Front – which he led for five years – and for a time worked with the Islamic State of Iraq.

Al-Sharaa has been accused of engaging in war crimes, including genocide.

In 2013, the U.S. State Department designated Al-Sharaa as a “Global Terrorist,” citing “multiple suicide attacks throughout Syria” that were carried out under his leadership.

“Many of these attacks have killed innocent Syrian civilians,” the State Department declared at the time.

In 2017, the State Department offered a $10 million reward for information on his location.

well Osama was cia...

Badhobz 11-11-2025 05:58 AM

Saddam was at one point propped up by the US against the Iranians too.

Middle East is such a shit show thanks to US intervention

68style 11-11-2025 08:10 AM

I have to admit, I have NOT checked back in to see how things were going, but I saw a pretty in depth interview with him when he overtook the government in Syria promising changes and he was extremely remorseful about his actions in his youth and was actively proposing that there are better ways to solve conflicts and that he had smartened up basically in regard to violent action blah blah blah

Not that it excuses anything he did, but worth noting if in fact he held true to those claimed beliefs?
