Trump thread 2.0

Cheeto’s comments on Fox News about capturing Maduro:

Trump on Maduro capture:

"He was in a house that was more like a fortress than a house. It had steel doors, it had what they call a safety space where it's solid steel... He was trying to get into it, but he got bum rushed so fast that he didn't."

Speaking of polymarket someone made a ton of money off the capture. Insider trading is 100% legal on polymarket.

I wonder if China’s President Xi Jinping is having thoughts about Taiwan now.

Heck, if Trump can send the US military to invade Venezuela to oust its president, would China seriously consider invading Taiwan?

Now that would be an interesting wager on polymarket.

As the saying goes, never say never, but historically, China has been calculative of its actions, and invading Taiwan would be a bit out of left field for China to follow on a similar tactic as Trump's capture (kidnapping????) of Maduro.

I feel for the Venezuelan people. On one hand, the regime is over (too soon to say.) But the aftermath is a story yet to be told. Speaking to one of my colleagues who is from Venezuela, he said to me, "We celebrated too early. What's next can go dark very quickly."

Why would it change anything for China? America will never directly engage with China. In fact, it will never engage with any country that actually has a legitimate military.

Trump goes after weak leaders in weak countries that have no military power.

Trump is an unpredictable president. One of the most unpredictable leaders in my opinion.

The geopolitical situation with China and Taiwan is even more complicated because U.S. interests are pretty big in Taiwan.

First, the U.S. has a binding defence agreement with Taiwan.

NVIDIA, one of the most valuable tech companies in the world, has a great deal
of its semi conductor chips made in Taiwan through the company TSMC.

America is pushing hard in the race to develop its AI technology.

Chinese president Xi stated through Chinese state media that reclaiming Taiwan is a goal of the Community party.

Seeing the U.S. do a regime change in Venezuela could get the Chinese government officials thinking about its own agenda to reclaim Taiwan. Perhaps China speeds up that timeline to invade Taiwan?

Cheeto will defend Taiwan IF American self interests are threatened by a Chinese invasion. The US needs Taiwanese manufacturing to grow its AI technology.

Never say never with Cheeto as president.

A war with China is likely a bridge too far, even for the ultra neocons.

And I hope that in my lifetime we never see a US vs. China war because it would be catastrophic for humanity.

So Venezuela's new President (the former VP) is not playing along with Trump - Trump had said she'd be in working with the US and she's come out and said that's not true and she's calling for Maduro's release.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/venezu...guez-9.7032783

Trump truly has no idea what he's doing (no shock).

We're #3 in oil reserves after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, so is Carney going to supplement his RCMP detail with JTF-2?

If anything, this move would push China's plan on Taiwan, whatever it was, further down the road.

The reason is simple. Venezuela was so heavily sanctioned that the only countries were still getting their oil was China, and Russia.

China doesn't have the fuel supply needed to satisfy its own need and much less if they go into a war and the world would cut them off their supply.

With Venezuela now cut from providing cheap oil to China, it's going to further delay its plan to amass enough reserve.

Also... this whole thing was a way for US to show its muscles. Sure, one could argue Venezuela isn't China/Russia or its army kinda just gave up directly. But to go into a hostile country, who was kinda prepared for anything given how many US ships were just outside of Venezuela, take its leader and fly him out without casualty is a feat on its own.

Not just military strength either. It was able to carry out the whole operation without any leakage on intel, even China sent its convoy just yesterday afternoon to meet Maduro, plus all the intel needed to secure the whereabout of Maduro and the forces they would be facing, that's another feat.

If I were China/Russia, I'd be reassessing my own intel/military capability to at least ensure something like this would not happen to me before planning anything else.

68style 01-04-2026 12:11 AM

I wouldn’t go that far,’Maduro needed to go but there are right and wrong ways to do that.

This ain’t the right way and it’s also not for the right reason(s) and that really fucking matters dude. Throw your TDS catch phrase around all you want, you’re straight up engaging in wilful ignorance.

Result = good in pure isolation.

Everything else about it and how it was done and what’s to come is an awful precedent and I don’t think it’s going to go the way the people want it to.

whitev70r 01-04-2026 07:04 AM

Yah, age old question, does the end justify the means? Good outcome, Maduro gone ... means ... very questionable. And ulterior outcomes ... US in control of Venezuela's government for the time being and their oil .. even more questionable.

Trump says, Opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina doesn't have the 'respect' to govern, after Maduro ousted.

If motive was pure, US would say, 'Here you go, we removed the decades old tyrant, Maduro. We will stay here to ensure a safe and fair election process (although I doubt Trump's administration knows what that means) and pass on the leadership to a fairly elected President. If the US did that, I am sure the new Venezuela government would feel a debt of gratitude to US and ship them lots of free oil.

mikemhg 01-04-2026 11:35 AM

Hehe your thinking is insane, as usual.

America works with, and allies with many countries with non-democratically elected leaders, and have never cared to deal with a country that isn't a legitimate democracy, UAE, among many others. This operation had nothing to do with helping Venezuela, or enacting "fair" elections, American itself doesn't even carry fair elections themselves at this point, as your so-called king would say.

Trump is a criminal pedophile himself, should China be able to swoop in and kidnap him unilaterally? Whatever your opinion of Maduro, there should be rules, decorum, standards and policies to be followed.

We shouldn't simply be normalizing the unauthorized bombing and capturing of the leader of a sovereign country in that manner. How can the west now criticize Russia's actions in Ukraine? We're now re-entering an imperialistic world which will continue to destabilize, causing more conflicts throughout the world, and it's a terrible precedent to set.

Harvey Specter 01-04-2026 12:49 PM

Is Greenland next? And if the US took Greenland, would NATO really respond, or are they just a paper tiger?

Quote:

Trump’s words come a day after the Danish Ambassador to the United States Jesper Møller Sørensen called out Katie Miller– wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller– for her post echoing Trump’s sentiment.

Katie Miller posted a map of Greenland painted with the American flag, along with the word “SOON.”

Sørensen gave Miller a “friendly reminder” that Greenland “expect[s] full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.”

Left wing lawmakers, Greenland residents, and government leaders in both Denmark and Greenland have constantly spoken out against Trump’s push for control of Greenland.

“We don’t belong to anyone else. We decide our own future. We must not act out of fear. We must respond with peace, dignity and unity,” Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said in March.

RevYouUp 01-04-2026 01:15 PM

Comparing an alleged pedophile to a drug lord communist that runs over protestors is a pretty bad comparison. The dudes been in power causing Venezuela to be a shit hole for 25+ years when they have one of the largest oil reserves in the world while killing innocent people.

Anyways none of us should have an opinion on this matter other than actual citizens. People protesting free Maduro are fucked in Canada and US. What’s next? All the I stand with Ukraine folks will switch sides and scream free Putin when US takes him out? No one will be complaining if Biden or Harris took out Maduro.

What’s done is done, just laugh if Trump fucks up again behind our computer screens.

bcrdukes 01-04-2026 01:22 PM

Had me at “Free Putin.” Made my day. :lawl:

spoon.ek9 01-04-2026 01:38 PM

Being against (any) country breaking International law isn't an opinion, as you put it. It's literally just being against laws being broken. If this is the precedent being set and the world does nothing to respond, then literally everything is fair game. China can take Taiwan, North Korea can take over South Korea (or at least try), etc.

Two things can be true at the same time here. Maduro was a brutal dictator that needed to go but the US also had no authority or right to illegally go into another country and take their leader by force.

If you think the US, especially this current administration, is doing this purely for altruistic purposes you are incredibly naive. Starting wars has never ended well for the US and they drag others into it too. This is also quite literally the person who said he's the president for peace, the guy who claims he deserves the Nobel peace prize starting an actual war.

This is about oil, just like previous wars and if you're pro-Alberta this should be seen as a huge detriment to that industry. And yet, you have PP licking the boots offering congratulations and claiming it's a moral victory over socialism and the woke left...

They're not even hiding the real reasons why they took Maduro out.

Literally the first 3 mins of the press conference Trump is like "we're going to take over their oil infrastructure, we're going to run the country". Nothing about the drug trafficking or whatever BS reason they were using earlier.

And now? Who the fuck is in charge in Venezuela? Their VP. Who's now saying Maduro is the only true president and they're going to resist the US. Well, great job "running the place" are you going to start kidnapping every tom/dick/mary in the Venezuelan government until there's no one left?

The VP is now in Russia.

Harvey Specter 01-04-2026 04:00 PM

I wouldn’t be shocked if Maduro cuts a deal with Trump and is given safe passage to Russia.

It would fit the pattern. Make a show of strength for domestic optics, claim a win, and quietly move the problem elsewhere. No boots on the ground, no real follow through, just another headline that fades once the news cycle moves on.

GLOW 01-04-2026 10:34 PM

I don't think that's 100% confirmed but if that were true that would be the icing on the cake of incompetency that is this administration.

Go take out the top guy, but his #2 is fucking out of the country? :awwyeah:
