Germany, Sweden, France, Norway, the Netherlands and Finland have all since confirmed they are sending military personnel to Greenland this week.

French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday that a French military team was “already on the ground” and would be reinforced in the coming days with “air, sea and land components.”

In a statement Wednesday, the German Defense Ministry said it was sending a “reconnaissance team” of 13 military personnel to Greenland Thursday for “an exploration mission” alongside other partner nations, at Denmark’s invitation.

Sweden also sent an unspecified number of troops to Greenland Wednesday at Denmark’s request, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on X. The Swedish officers will be part of a group of troops from other allied countries who will together prepare for an upcoming exercise called Operation Arctic Endurance, he added.

in a normal children fairytale, this is the time when some sort of unassuming small time dude starts off his adventure to overturn the evil emperor. But no, of course we don't have that in real life.

It's been floated that if the US attacks Greenland that the EU could confiscate all US bases located in the EU. An US attack on Greenland amounts to violation of the NATO treaty which is what protects US military assets - this act of war would open the door for NATO nations to confiscate US military assets that are located in their countries (this would also be considered an act of war but at this point who's counting?).

It would make sense that EU nations would, at a minimum, secure their borders from the US which naturally should/would lead to any US military assets being put under EU control - at this point it'd be considered war seizure and not confiscation since the US and NATO would be at war once an invasion took place. All US troops in NATO countries would likely be arrested at this point - we're talking around 80,000 troops.

I'm surprised that NATO hasn't come out and told the US that if they invade Greenland that they would seize all US military assets in their lands - this would set the US back a century in terms of their ability to project power, they'd be handing China global dominance as a result.
