I couldn’t keep reading after the lady in the USA told RFK Jr that the ostriches have antibiotics in their eggs.

Adjusted for population, our economy has barely grown over the past decade. Canada had the second-weakest GDP per capita growth out of 38 advanced countries over 2014-2024,” the letter claimed. “In GDP per capita terms, the country has been in recession for the past two and a half years. Moreover, the OECD
projects Canada will have the lowest per capita economic growth of any advanced country over 2020-30 and 2030-60.”

We need to change this trajectory. The acute strain on people’s living standards can be seen in the data on monthly food bank visits, which reached 2.1 million in March 2024, the highest in history, and up 90% from 2019,” business leaders added.
Eh.. what do they know.. only the provinces business leaders backed by tangible data.

it's going to get way worse, why? Cause our kids are already buying stuff from H&M and Shein and Temu...etc.

Our generation did buy good american / canada made stuff... and it took years to flip over to say.. ok fine.. AMZ marketplace.

Now it's to a point of no return... it'll all just go downhill - good luck convincing the younger generation to buy local.

All you had to do was buy property and value goes up... so that's what people did, and did it create anything of value, or just kick the can down the road?

As noted before, per capita GDP over the past 20 years has entirely been driven by oil and gas prices and in the last 10 years the decline in per capita GDP is entirely with Alberta and Sask while other provinces have seen progress (to varying degrees).

Meanwhile, the US has shown the biggest growth in per capita GDP via debt - they are using deficit spending to grow per capita GDP, so much so that they managed to get their credit rating lowered for the first time ever.

The data they're quoting is accurate but the data lies and these business leaders, surprise, surprise, are distorting the reality.

Canada, can and should, find more ways to improve per capita GDP as productivity drives the funding needed for social programs but the facts are being misrepresented.

I’m glad we spent millions of dollars at the openheimer kids playground only to be shuttered due to the homeless encampment.

Drive by if you haven’t been lately, there’s as many tents as there used to be, what a fucking joke.

Kitchen workers have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse. If you ever meet a woman who has chef-related tattoos on her body... run.

FetLife parties like 15+ years ago, I only went to a couple because there were too many weirdos for even my tastes, but I used to call them "gay fat bearded chef conventions" because so many of them were bald, chubby, bearded, gay, and leather / pvc'ed up.

Kitchen work itself is like a mild form of BDSM, it can be tough as hell work, especially if you're in a dirty, hot kitchen where the entire responsibility of everyone that works there relies on you to not fuck up orders.

Jason00S2000 05-20-2025 12:24 PM

Is he already back out and high again on taxpayer dime? :lol :lol :lol

Hondaracer 05-20-2025 12:31 PM

Don’t worry guys, Eby is “so angry” with yet again another example of the justice system failing.

We are a joke. People have to get raped by repeat offenders to even take note? :lol

Canadurrrr we are literally fucking retarded.

You should try actually reading what actually happened rather than distorting the news to suit whatever bullshit narrative you want to promote.

There's always been a playground at Oppenheimer and this was a $600k upgrade to the existing one - poor kids deserve playgrounds too.

The playground was not shuttered - all that happened was that the celebration of the opening of the new playground was cancelled b/c of one asshole activist who doesn't even live there. This asshole, who wouldn't appear on camera, claimed that the celebration party was resulting in tent people being forced off the property which the city says is untrue.

Hondaracer 05-20-2025 12:47 PM

When’s the last time you’ve driven by there?

I’d love to see some sort of playground opening celebration happen as it currently sits.

Who in their mind would bring a child to that playground? I just drove by on Friday and there must have been 30 tents back in the park. The “bathrooms” were surrounded by tents and strung out junkies laying in the way.

You would be -insane- to let your child play there.

I'm not debating whether or not children should be there in the current state of the park (I was there last summer though and it wouldn't be a top choice of mine to visit but it was fine) - I'm calling you out on your bullshit and lies about what happened there.

It's not millions of dollars spent and there was no shuttering of the playground due to the homeless encampment. Stop making up fake shit - there's plenty of factual bad news that you can use to make your point.

Thoughts on the upcoming Canada Post strike? I don't think Carney will step in considering it makes him look bad. But then it's definately not a good look for Canada again, Canada Post is essentially bankrupt they say, so I'm not sure how they can give them more money? Maybe hire all the illegals? Good luck getting y'all property tax bills.

The union is stuck between a rock and a hard place - their job is to protect existing jobs as much as possible but the reality is that the world has changed massively in the last 25 years and the way CP is structured is untenable without massive changes to reflect that.

I'm sure the union leaders aren't blind to the reality but telling that to their membership is sorta suicide at this point - there's no way to go to their membership and say something like "50% of your jobs are going to disappear in the next 10 years" at this point.

Hondaracer 05-20-2025 01:28 PM

Story I saw had the playground wrapped in caution tape

By the way, the total rejuvenation of the park, without the playground, cost over 3.5

https://globalnews.ca/video/7846309/...homeless-camp/

So the 600k+ for the playground is a drop in the bucket to have it return to the state it was in prior to the closure.

Less than 4 years ago the same guy raped a woman at gun point in Surrey

https://www.surreynowleader.com/news...tation-2965660

:lol

Like at this point we must be trying to be this shit no?

You can rape someone at gun point, and then rack up a dozen charges until you ultimately rape another woman?

At least both of us can just laugh and shake our heads and generally move on in life because none of the people in our lives have been harmed by lax justice in this country... yet.

The best part is that I haven't heard if this guy is indigenous yet, so, if he is, imagine that he'll get an even lighter sentence for his 2nd, 3rd or hell, maybe this is his 4th random sexual assault? Who even knows?

Just raise a Liveleak kid that knows and expects danger and shitheads around every corner. My baby momma and I ain't raisin' no fool...

This summary from CBC about the Canada Post situation is pretty brutal.

Quote:

About as bad as it gets. The last time it made a profit was 2017. Since then it has lost $3 billion.

The annual loss in 2023 was $748 million, even worse than 2022 when it lost $548 million, according to its latest annual report.

Until recently, Canada Post funded its operations without any taxpayer money. But that changed in January, when the federal government loaned it $1 billion to stay afloat.

This summer, Canada Post will have to refinance other loans worth $500 million and, it says, by 2026 it will need $1 billion a year from the government just to meet its financial obligations.

Canada Post has been described as "effectively insolvent, or bankrupt" and its situation as a "death spiral."
It's hard not to see the situation as largely the fault of an inflexible union.

Jason00S2000 05-21-2025 08:24 AM

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...nied-1.7537628

^^^ Wow.

Better never go against the government, they will destroy your life. If you spaz out, murder someone, and eat their face on a Greyhound Bus you'll probably get less time in jail than these dudes.

Hondaracer 05-21-2025 08:38 AM

Both have spent more time behind bars than the career criminal who raped a woman at gun point.

JDMDreams 05-21-2025 08:40 AM

I looked into it mainly it stems from having to service letters all across Canada for stamp cost, but # of letters is way down. Packages are way up, but they can't compete cuz other shipment companies do weekend deliveries and union won't allow them to hire part time people to do that. So it is unions fault.

RevYouUp 05-21-2025 11:39 AM

The Canadian dental plan is open to most age groups except 35-54 (applications open May 29th for them). Sign up if your family income is less than $90,000 - I know this probably won’t apply to a majority of RS ballers, but most of our parents with multi-million dollar properties should qualify for this

unit 05-21-2025 11:56 AM

hopefully someday it will be expanded to include just about everyone. dental is expensive af, even if you're making over the threshold. nobody should have to choose between their teeth and their wallet.
