I wouldn’t call it an inferiority complex. We don’t care to measure up to Toronto (it’s already better here LUL ). That said, I am tired of being force fed their media coverage though. Like when a Matthews’ hangnail gets more “local” TV, web and social media coverage than the Sedin’s retirement.

Most of the animosity in 2011 had to do with the Canucks being the best team in the league for a couple of years... everyone automatically hates you... plus we had guys like Bieksa, Burrows, Kesler and Lapierre... lots of guys who jawed like crazy and everyone hated us because of that too.

This team is very likeable outside of probably Roussel and Beagle (and they're nothing compared to Burrows and Kesler lol) and an underdog team so I think a lot more people will be on board haha

This team has a lot more personality but in a good way, Brock is such a down to earth surfer type with a huge heart, Bo is captain Canada, Petey is funny as hell and lets his skill speak for its self and Quinn is the rookie that looks 16 who can't do wrong and the eastern media is starting to realize how good he actually is. No question they are not even close to the hate on the 2011 team which as 68 said being the underdog benefits them as well.

Was pretty crazy last game when Maclean was like “and we all know Hughes is a superstar”

This. I've never understood that. I will always cheer for a Canadian team over an American team, period. Whatever the league is, NBA, MLS, NHL, MLB, I'm always going to cheer for the Canadian team.

Plain and simple in professional sports, we will always be in competition with the Americans in order to attract high level talent, based on our tax laws, and the dollar itself, we're always at a disadvantage. When a Canadian team wins, we all win IMHO.

That team was so good, I think that also had people piling on to the hate train. Sports is weird, when your doing well your fan base loves you and everyone else hates you.
